Yesterday was busy.. Busy enough that for the first time, I wore down my cell phone battery in less than 12 hours. I was playing the in between person on several things from the new house to utilities to Cam things.
I finally got up to
wendy_lady's place and got her all the stuff that I had for my jacket. It looks like we will start working on it

Public Disclosure, Fact Finding, & Necessary Discretion
Personally I don't see anything wrong with a DC candidate approaching the remnants of the previous coordinator structure to inquire about the current status of things, and get a feel for how the Domain's coordinator structure, and how it's members feel about things. I think the ability to do so is a valuable tool that any coordinator can utilize. I can see how some people might see that as an attempt to "back room deal" things, but this is the part where I'm confused... I don't know of any other candidate running for the position. So there's no "deal" to make. You were the DC of Seattle prior to the merge, when Trevor took over, and with his resignation from the position, and you being the only candidate willing to step up and assume the position, unless a large chunk of the populace thinks you can't do the job (unlikely), you're pretty much in. So I don't get what the big deal is there.
Mark me, sir, I am an Ass...
Seattle/SKC is a decent sized domain. There's a lot of different people, and that means a lot of different play styles. And at least several different understandings of the rules, and what constitutes good interactive roleplay. I have no doubt that the things that I consider a bravissimo performance of one of my character's attempts to take fate by the horns and make his own way in the world comes off as a contemptuous disdain for someone else's character. I can play very genial and friendly characters. But even the nicest guy can be a real dick under the right circumstances. Some of the most horrifying moments in history have been perpetrated under the belief that someone was doing what needed to be done for the greater good. It's a slippery slope. But I digress... In any good sized group of roleplayers, it's a given that some people won't mesh well. I generally attempt to approach the situation in the following manner.
1. Seperate the player's IC actions from their OOC actions. i.e. I attempted to have scalpel's Ventrue because he stepped over the line, and put me in an intractable position. I went to have coffee with scalpel afterwards. Sharpe was an ass. scalpel is a... less asslike individual... most times... :)
2. Talk with the player about it OOC. Hey, if something makes you uncomfortable, or you're uncertain about something, talk to the player about it. Don't accuse them. Just ask about it. If the player makes you uncomfortable, get your CC, or ST, and talk to the player with them present. Use the ST or CC as an intermediary. Thats part of what we're here for... That, and endless hours of dreary paperwork... :P
3. Try to relax. In the grand scheme of things, it's probably not that big of a deal. If your character got killed... Well, the new Chronicle starts in a couple of months. Take some time off. Play some City of Heroes... Take up basketweaving. Whatever. Come back with a clean slate, and a fresh perspective. The caveat to that statement being of course that if it's legitimately OOC harassment, talk to your CC about it.
The game is dead! Long live the game!
Will the new system be any better than the old system? I dunno. I'm not one of those NDA people. Will I still want to participate in a LARP organization that focusses on White Wolf's created worlds? Probably. So there ya go. I genuinely like most of the people I've met through the Cam. They're smart people. Driven people. Creative individuals. The system that only sort of governs how I interact with them IC is more of a secondary concern to the system that allows me to meet and interact with them OOC in the first place.
That's just my view on things.

But I would argue that there is a real difference between playing a morally repugnant character like Sharp and playing a character whose motivation is killing other PCs, for instance. If you're going to play a villain, make him realistic and interesting for other characters to role-play with in scenes!

People also generally understand their own motivations and do not see the larger picture of the motivations of other characters. Rather than roleplay, they assume the worse and cry "get 'em" when they feel threatened.

Or as I like to put it, play a bastard, not an asshole. ;)
