Tuesday update..

Yesterday was busy.. Busy enough that for the first time, I wore down my cell phone battery in less than 12 hours. I was playing the in between person on several things from the new house to utilities to Cam things.

I finally got up to wendy_lady's place and got her all the stuff that I had for my jacket. It looks like we will start working on it ( Read more... )

When I said "heir apparent" and "heir presumptive", I meant to indicate that you were pretty much the DC as near as I could tell, and therefore your words had a bit of weight with me in my role as member. I didn't mean it sarcastically, it was a recognition of the authority I had given you (correctly or incorrectly)...

I understand, and thank you for the clarification, though it was not necessary. *nod* *smile*

Hmmm... There's a couple of topics wrapped up in this one post, so I'll try to address them individually.

Public Disclosure, Fact Finding, & Necessary DiscretionPersonally I don't see anything wrong with a DC candidate approaching the remnants of the previous coordinator structure to inquire about the current status of things, and get a feel for how the Domain's coordinator structure, and how it's members feel about things. I think the ability to do so is a valuable tool that any coordinator can utilize. I can see how some people might see that as an attempt to "back room deal" things, but this is the part where I'm confused... I don't know of any other candidate running for the position. So there's no "deal" to make. You were the DC of Seattle prior to the merge, when Trevor took over, and with his resignation from the position, and you being the only candidate willing to step up and assume the position, unless a large chunk of the populace thinks you can't do the job (unlikely), you're pretty much in. So I don't get what the big ( ... )

The fact that Marco went after Sharp was actually a relief. Sharp was supposed to highlight the hypocracy of the Camarilla in allowing someone like him to live, and the fact that he was tolerated so long surprised me. :)

But I would argue that there is a real difference between playing a morally repugnant character like Sharp and playing a character whose motivation is killing other PCs, for instance. If you're going to play a villain, make him realistic and interesting for other characters to role-play with in scenes!

Thank you, sir. You have just validated my entire roleplaying experience in the Camarilla. People often tend to forget that players are not their characters.

People also generally understand their own motivations and do not see the larger picture of the motivations of other characters. Rather than roleplay, they assume the worse and cry "get 'em" when they feel threatened.

Or as I like to put it, play a bastard, not an asshole. ;)

If you wish, I'll run against you for DC so that you have "competition." My platform is easy - if elected, you all have just screwed yourselves more than you could possibly imagine. I will attend games only if they don't conflict with my real-life schedule. I will turn in a report only if properly motivated with real world cash. I will ignore pretty much everything that my job requires.

Please, vote for me.

Two things:

I would prefer the competition for the DC slot, however I think that your platform is perhaps a little less solid than mine. *smile*

Fortunately, LJ is not considered part of the Camarilla and such an announcement here does not mean much besides being a comment. *wink*

Otherwise, it is always great to see you at games because I enjoy roleplaying with you, besides the fact that you are fun to be around outside of game too. Did you think that I was going to be so much of a Cam-Nazi when you hired me as your ACC back in '96..

No, I figured you more for a cam-whore and it appears that I was wrong.

I also figure that if I made my announcement in an inappropriate forum, word of mouth may come around that some jackass is running against you and is far too stupid to even follow proper channels thereby assuring your victory.

You need to come hang out more often.

The Cam is fucking stupid and not worth your time. There is no real tangible reward of any kind for holding a position. Just frustration. So by Ron P. Did you mean Ron Paul? If so tell him Charles and I said hi.

Sometimes, I agree with you. Other times, I would have to disagree. In the third sentence you point out my example. Where else would you have met Ron P. and Charlie M.?

And yes, I will tell him hello for you both as long as you say hi to Charles for me.

"Another way to not deal with someone is not to go to game."

I ended up having to choose this option because - having talked issues forward and backward - I was spending far too much time avoiding those players and STs I couldn't deal with. It was practically getting aerobic, which I can prob'ly use, and stressful, which - for a game, for fun - ain't worth it.

BTW, sorry if I was ever an NDA asshole to you or anyone. I tried to share what I could, when I could, in order to drum up enthusiasm in folks around me (and - as it turns out - myself, too, prob'ly).

If you're ever down in Portland, drop me a line.

It is really unfortunate that you had to go that far. Each person has to make their own decisions about staying and leaving. It is my hope that someday you will come back and play again, as I beleive that the organization is losing one of it's most valuable members. The work that you have put into the organization far outstretches many of the people who have work less and been given more credit.

I understand the aerobic experience. Sometimes I hate it, but after a while you get used to hearing "no" or the sound of crickets. I think that we are moving down to the lowest common denominator, as opposed to trying to bring them up to a different level of thinking.

The NDA comment was a general statement, which really was a venting of frustration with people who think that they are special because they know something that others don't and wave it around in front of people constantly. You do not fit that description. *wink*
