On our last day of Morgan spiffyness, we dropped off the car and consoled ourselves with a visit to Covent Garden. There we saw a couple of sets but waited specifically to see Bowjangles. Where ZHL tends to be a movable feast of session musicians (and - let me say - a damned good feast at that), Bowjangles are a team of four with panache.
I've previously bought CDs from Covent Garden from the various performers. They do the performances for a living and rely upon donations from the people they entertain. On a sunny day, they may get a decent income, but there aren't many sunny days in GB. And they work so hard and are so good that it pains me to see people occupying tables and trying to talk over them. Silly people. JUST LISTEN GODDAMMIT!

Anyway, yesterday, Bowjangles had a DVD for sale instead of a CD, still at the excellent price of £10 - and this includes your live entertainment. I bought two and have watched mine tonight. Where I previously had difficulty expressing *why* these guys were so entertaining, it now becomes clear. They are visually excellent as well as musically. Those attending the 2006 Discworld convention probably saw ZHL strings in their best environment. They were comfortable, had room to move, had a very enthusiastic audience who showed their appreciation both in attention and (thanks to Aunty Sue) tips. The lead from that setup of ZHL is the lead in Bowjangles. Their sets are both visual and aural. They tick all my boxes for an enjoyable entertainment experience in that I love to see people do music and have fun at the same time. I'd pay good money to see them at a future event because I think they're worth every penny.
For your entertainment, here is a slice of the new Bowjangles DVD. If you never, ever, take my advice on anything else, visit
their website and buy your own copy of the DVD.
