It took me too long to pen my response to a good and spicy argument that is going on elsewhere, so the argument passed me by. But I'd written my response! So I post it here.

Interestingly this is the very reason why the National Womens Party was formed. The founder split with another suffragette group in the 1900's because the other party wanted to take a state by state case for the sufferage movement and Ms. Paul wanted to take it directly to Congress which she did. Her plan involved a series of non-violent protests and direct pressure on Congress and the President. Her groups actions made it possible for the 19th Amendment to be ratified.
Unfortunately, the Christian left/right has been employing the same tactics over the last few years well, that and the blatant murder of the few doctors willing to perform abortions.
