Flying blind

Last weekend I drove down to Florida and joined a number of good friends to watch Atlantis launch. It was somewhat bittersweet, and feels like the future of manned space exploration has been cancelled. Afterwards, we ate lunch at a local hotdog stand and just hung out until a number of us had a large supper at Emeril's. It was amazing as always. Saturday was spent grilling chicken, hamburgers, and sausages with friends and just hanging out. Sunday I had a brunch and then had to get on the road, following another car headed to Atlanta. I did not get home until around 0400 in the morning on Monday.

I had planned on flying a long cross-country on Tuesday, but severe weather moved into the area for most of the afternoon. Wednesday was looking iffy as well until about an hour before I got off work. The cross-country was decided against in case the weather changed for the worse on the return leg, so instead I was put under the hood and flew on instruments only for an hour. We flew to DCU and I shot an ILS approach into runway 18 with a near perfect landing the first time. That was a lot of fun. In all I gained an hour of instrument time, and need one more to finish my PPL license requirements.

Afterwards, I met up with a friend going through a little bit of a rough time, and we hung out and played cards and went swimming in his pool, just goofing off and relaxing. Been feeling run down all day today, but I have a radio show to do tonight. I hope some people will come listen in this time at: http://ustream.tv/channel/dragonboy
