Holy shit! Bass god alert!
I first ran across Victor Wooten via a friend & coworker, Kevin, at Texas A&M. He's the same guy who introduced me to Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic, and Rusted Root, Harman Kardon, good home theater, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, etc, etc. I got a copy of one of Wooten's solo albums from Kevin. I saw Bela Fleck & The Flecktones at Stern Grove a few years ago shortly after I moved out to the Bay Area. But I haven't thought about him or kept up with what he's been doing the last several years. Then I ran across this video of his Amazing Grace solo just now on (of all places) Crooks and Liars.
And oh my god... you have to listen to this if you have a musical bone anywhere in your body. Especially if you love hearing/seeing someone just own a bass guitar. being_angyl and darkmoon, I'm looking at you two. ;)

Oh, and here's a guy playing Wooten's arrangement on an acoustic guitar. Stick with it-he goes crazy 48 seconds in and he's pretty badass.
