I'm glad you're here...I made my first entry in the other...and I'm not sure I did it right.

Is it in MY journal, or is it in the new one?

Youre allowed posting access by logging in. After that its just like any other journal entry. If the entry is private, it wont show up on the friends page in this journal. You have to be logged in there to see any of the entries.
