Late night musings

Last night I was thinking about something someone in radio once told me. I'm pretty sure it was an engineer. He said that sound waves just keep reverberating through the atmosphere forever.

His point was that our radio station could be heard in the stratosphere, IF there's ever anybody out there trying to pick up on the soundwaves.

He said in this small, small way, we're immortal (lol!) because our voices will always be out there bouncing around.

That was a long time ago.

Sometimes in my memory I don't remember things the way they actually happened. So it's quite possible I'm making this up. :-D

After all, I thought I walked on the deck of the USS Enterprise when I was ten years old. I've told that story for years, because that ship was the biggest aircraft carrier in the US fleet when my father was serving.

About ten years ago, we were at thanksgiving dinner when my dad heard me make reference to that auspicious occasion. He was sitting across the room and I heard him say, "What did you just say, Diane?"

"I was talking about the time you took us on the Enterprise for a tour."

My father started laughing incredulously. "You were never on the deck of the Enterprise!"

Man! Where did I GET that memory? We never did figure it out.

And I'm thinking the soundwaves thing sounds like just the kind of thing I'd make up.

That's probably why I think about it late at night. lol!
