Sunday night Kevin sent an email out telling the stations the Hurricane was gonna be huge, that they might want to think about a donation drive.
Monday he reiterated same and they began to take him seriously.
Yesterday, WTHI-TV, HI-99 radio and 105.5 The River devoted our day to the cause. By day's end, we had collected almost SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.
I was amazed at the generosity, probably capitalized upon by our good timing. Before anyone around here had time to think about anything but the devastation and shock of the disaster's magnitude, we'd pulled together and done something pretty powerful. Made me feel good, but man, today I am so drained!
Vacation was great. Two weeks in North Carolina, seven days at the ocean and every possible minute spent floating up to my neck in it. Christine was, once again, a most amazing and necessary companion. She was charming, patient, a great sounding board and a beautiful young lady. I'm proud of her.
Did not spend the time I wanted at my parents and no one to blame but myself. Next time down there THEY get my first priority, they deserve it.
Too tired to keep catching up. I have to work at the bar tonight and I'm not even sure I'm going to pull that off. I just want a LONG nap.
