Bayahibe
5Mar:
I woke up feeling the burn. Sunburn that is.. Yeah.. That was a long day in the sun even though I reapplied 30 SPF alot. The weather today was changing between some pretty heavy showers on and off. We mostly chilled on our patio all day. Later before dinner we walked along the Park de Este once the rain stopped.
We went out for dinner in town at Mare Nostrum ... I had the most excellent fish ever.

Some white fish? with clams, shrimps fresh garlic and olive oil. It was really great. Our waiter rocked he helped C with more Spanish 'DR style' and gave us 2 free Mamajuana liqueur drinks for dessert.

We took another shorter boat tour from the Marina, with 8 random tourists again. This time to Catalina Island and the River Chavon (where, I guess, parts of Apocalypse Now and Rambo 2 were filmed on this river)

Catalina Island had amazing snorkeling and was the softest sand ever. Sand on this side of DR is crushed coral, which stays cool on the feet and is so finely crushed it is like a mud mask.. haha.

Snorkeling is my favorite pastime ever! Closest I will get to flying which I do often in dreams. I absolutely love to just float around and let the waves carry me over the jagged coral formations. I figure better to float over then risk reaching wrong and getting cut on the shallow parts.. The fish swam around us like they wanted us to join their school. I loved the fish that looked like they had human smiles, that was so cool. Swimming buzzed is great too.
At this beach you can walk out really far before getting to the deep parts so the water was like a giant hot tub with colorful fish, comparable to the 'stocked' Hanauma Bay reserve in Honolulu, the other best snorkeling evar!

Cruise ships have excursions to this Ilse too, we saw their lil private beach area, down from where our captain pulled our boat up to. This group was more lively and more cuba libres were had.
Then we were flying up the river on the speed boat jumping waves for a bit and you feel far away in a jungle. Glad he gave us drinks before that ride back. We even passed by Madonnas Dominican Mansion on the boat ride back to Bayahibe near Casa de Campo.
Back at Bayahibe we had Pica Pollo (fried Chix)& Tostones (Flattened fried plantains) again, from a lil shack in town, it was under $5 bucks for enough food for us both.. Dominican Fast Food.

7Mar
Lazy day, we had a day at Playa Bayahibe where we just lounged all day. Watched lil bands pass by that actually were very talented.

The day before, we had meet an American Doctor who was relaxing here in Bayahibe before heading to the DR/Haiti boarder to help with a missionary camp. He needed a ride back west so after b-fast and packing we drove through the towns of La Romana (again) and this time we stopped to drop him off in the town of San Pedro where he was spending one day for museums. (This is the town where the Baseball Park is.)
I'm getting lazy now..
Then we returned the car, did the duty free shop thing (for DR Cigars for a party we want to have) and then after many delays through Atlanta Airport. Flight to Seattle we played the Delta Trivia game onboard again which I love.. then we arrived home..
But then our luggage lost, then found.. and brought to our home at least.. Now it's been back to work.
The end. ;)
Thanks for Flying!
