Did you ever see the Seattle band "Sinforosa" play with "Josette's Eye" when you visited? We must have done a dozen shows with them. Krystoff, the guitarist from that band (which split), is a successful pin-up artist and he always posts what music he was listening to when he draws his sassy ladies. His LJ is charmed_art. Jean-Paul is a big fan of his also.
I don't usually do visual art, but I made a bunch of waterpaint pictures while listening to an imprivisational jazz band live. There were all these art supplies at the venue (remember The Matrix?) although that was the first time I'd used them.
i never saw sinforosa live, but i have heard their stuff and i saw a video of you performi ng with them i think. i have heard of krystoff, but did not know he was a visual artist. thats cool. i don't know if i've ever been to the matrix, but i know the name of the venue cuz a thousand young and josette's eye (and sinforosa?) used to play there a lot. i recall. thats cool you tried some art there. i wish i had more supplies right now. i want some cray pas (my icon is cray pas)
I know you went to the Matrix at least once (last time you visited) with me & my dad for "Song Circle." You shared some of your original rap, and stories, etc. I know it didn't seem like a venue at the time, since our chairs were in a circle on the floor, not the stage. And yup, all 3 bands played there. I forgot that I showed you the video of the one time Sinforosa played with A Thousand Young. Krystoff has too much talent, I'm jealous! My visual art has never been very awe-inspiring, which is why I tend to stick to music and performing arts.
do you paint on canvasses? use acrylics? Maybe you have markets where you could go and sell you art. I would buy something for sure if I lived near you *smiles* ..
thanks. i am going to try to do some shows. i just don't know about a lot of opportunities. i should look into it more, but i guess part of me is scared to do it. i must get over that now.... and yes, i paint with acrylic on canvas. i wanna get some new cray pas and charcoal and pastel to do some drawing too. i used to like to do watercolor with pastels. i haven't done that medium in years. it might be fun to try again
yeah, music is helpful in that way. i don't know what i'd do without music. i've been rediscovering a lot of punk and folk and classic rock i haven't listened to in a while. i have been soooo in love with hip hop and everything about it that i haven't listened to nearly as much other stuff. i forgot how much i really do love all kinds of music.
