Amy and I have a habit of just taking whatever car is easiest to get out of the driveway with when we need to get somewhere in a hurry, so having 2 sets of keys comes in handy.
So when I picked up the Maxima, and saw there was only 1 set of keys.. that could be a minor issue.
Option 1: Called up the local Nissan Stealership. $550 for both the key and the remote, along with $125 extra for programming. Grand total of $625 plus taxeroos.
Option 2: EBAY! $8 for the key (to be programmed by nissan for $65) and $10 for the remote which I can program myself.
Take a guess which option I went with...
So I get the key and the remote in the mail this morning. hurray! I program the remote.. doors unlock: Check.. Doors lock: Check.. Trunk Opens: wait a sec. no trunk button.
So I call up the place that I bought the remote from on ebay, turns out they just search junkyards for remotes and sell them on ebay. Why the hell didn't I think of that?
So i sent back the remote this afternoon, sadly I have found that trunk button be friggin awesome.
Baby in 1 arm, groceries in another with keys.. walk up to the car.. thunk.. trunk opens up.
If they cant get me one with a remote, im just going to go hit the junkyards myself unless there is a high demand for used car remotes in new england.
