Interesting film. First impressions is its a character piece. Having only seen Rourke in Sin City, I was kinda curious how he held a movie up by himself.  Overall he was either perfect for the part or he has untapped talent. When the character was light hearted and happy about life it was goddamn charming, it seemed real, and not forced.  On the flip side when real emotion was portrayed, how he pulled off being genuine with that stone chiseled mug of his I couldn't tell ya. I don't think I tear up often just with dialogue but ouch. I don't think i GOT the movie right when it was done, I felt confused, but without ruining anything I feel its a movie better understood after thinking about it, thinking about everything that happened instead of one or two scenes.
