Good: agree with you, maybe a little thought though, what about that compass? We know that it could not lead him to the chest, which would have meant having a leverage to negotiate with Davy Jones to get his live back. It seems though that there was something else in Jack's head that he wanted even more than live. This I think could be in contradiction (no offense meant) to your remark.
Evil: also agree on this, for me evil is about the worst which can be said of a person and so far, apart from Beckett, I would not dare calling anybody evil. I think Davy Jones is not evil his dark side comes out of his hurt and pain. Hence he decided to show no feelings at all, just following the rules and guidelines of his "job" without any sympathy. Contrary to Jack (as his counterpart) who is a very passionate person hides his feelings always behind a charming insouciance in order to protect himself from being hurted.
Returning from Hell
There are many interesting points in this and in one way or the other any of us has ever gone through his personal hell. For sure it does not leave anybody unaffected. Generally, the changes are that people change to their contrary. For example very earnest persons become more relaxed or easy going. People, who hardly ever said something, start participating in discussions... To me this is clearly a sign that they have realised while going through hell, what other side of live they had missed so far.
Coming to conclusion from the above, your description of Jack's (change in) personality after his return from hell is the logical consequence. I see him exactly the man you describe him (that's why I like your stories so much).
The interesting part between J/E is that also she is going through her personal hell (loss of Jack which obviously affected her more than she thought, feelings of guilt versus Jack and Will and also the crew) which will leave its mark on her. I imagine her becoming more mature in every respect. I agree with you that the bond between J/E will become stronger. As a consequence, on the other side, the connection to Will must weaken.
I am really curiously looking forward what AWE will show us...

As far as the compass goes, that's a great point. TnT are very careful to point out that it points to "what you want most in the world" rather than "your heart's desire;" I'm spinning off the idea that in that moment rowing away from the Pearl, Jack wanted most to survive. If a man is dead, he can't achieve his heart's desire. But it certainly could be true that the compass pointed to Elizabeth, and Jack's choice was self-sacrifice for her. I guess, either way, he went back as a good man.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting, I love sharing ideas about all this :)
