Well, since I never got around to posting my NYR's, my birthday seems a very apt time to do it. So here we go!
1) De-stress. I'm trying to de-stress, for my own mental health. With the help of my honey, Patrick, I've accomplished a bit. I can say I'm the happiest I've been in a long time, even if not the most stress-free. I intend to read more inspirational articles/books/quotes to help me become more laid back and not stumble as much on the bumps of life. This will involved some pampering too! Bonus for me
2) Take better care of myself, physically. I'm eating better, even if not that active. While working at Driven the last 4 months of last year, I physically screwed myself up, so I can't walk or stand for long periods, but I'll get there. I've lost 8 lbs in the last week and a half, without even trying. Well, not much. Some is probably water weight from cutting back on soda. But really, I've just been eating fruit, protein snacks, just a little cheese, frozen lean dinners (since I have been too tired to cook from my new job), and still giving myself some treats now and then. :) Yay me. :) This will also include cutting out more foods that aren't natural, learning to cook with better food, etc. Eventually getting active will be on the game plan as well.
3) Take time this year to figure out what I want in a career and my professional life and what sort of work I would like to do. This will involve determining goals for both career and hobby career. What I mean by hobby career is finding something I love and seeing if I can do something with it, if not as a regular job, as building something into more than a hobby, a professional hobby. ;) I'm not saying I will succeed in building my career or a pro-hobby in just this year, but I want to get an idea of what I want to do in those areas.
4) Learn. I unfortunately can't return to SFSU this semester, and I was out last fall. They will be dropping me. I couldn't get financial aid for this last year. However, my department also was hit hard by the recession and budget cuts and can't really offer enough classes to make finishing my Italian degree easily possible. Could take another 4 years! So I applied to SJSU as a transfer for their Global Studies program. I'll find out in February whether I get in. Hopefully I will start in the fall. I've been working towards a degree for years, and I WILL succeed. Eventually. I also have enough courses for two more AA's, and if I can get into my Anthro1 class, I can earn an AS.
5) Out all of this together to find a better sense of self and identify who I am. Or at least get a better idea of me ;)
