It's awesome. I start next Saturday. I think someone said it was a flat 65$ for like 2 months to half a year? That's ridiculously cheap, but as soon as we got there and got to witness the opening meditation, I got attached immediately. It made me feel like I was in a shrine, even if it was in a basketball gym, haha. The respect and order of it all was outstanding. Everything they did had purpose and benefit them in some way. Not only in learning Kendo but learning the people you were with. It's going to be a good place to make friends, I can tell that already. I will quote something from the website... " To mold the mind and body.
* To cultivate a vigorous spirit through correct and rigorous training.
* To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo.
* To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor.
* To pursue the cultivation of oneself and associate with others with sincerety and
respect."

It was definately apparent when I looked into that room and saw everyone practicing. I can't wait to join in. The website if you're interested is... http://www.georgiakendo.com/index.html

Cool. Thanks for the info. Can you join at any time or is it set "seasons" or whatever it would be called? Is it also belt related or degrees of any sort? I do like the quote very much and will have to check into it further.

From what I have gathered there is a belt system known as Kyu and Dan. Dan I believe is much like the blackbelt in most martial arts. I don't know too much about it though other than that there are different ranks of Kyu and Dan. You can join in anytime i "THINK". The class for beginners restarts this coming Saturday when I am joining. So I will be starting from the fresh beginnig, but I think you can join in anytime. If this seems like something you want to do, you shouldn't hesitate. You can come check it out this Saturday from 5-6 or even go ahead and join up if you are sure. There is also class ranks too I believe. I will be in the beginner class..I think after 2-3 months you join the Beginner 2 class where you get to use the Bogu (Armor). The armor can range from 300-2,500$ depending on what you want. I think when I am ready I will buy a decent 500$ pair. After the beginner 2 it becomes the Intermediate/Advanced classes. That's where the speed is picked up REAL fast. I thought beginner 2 class was fast..sshhhiiiitttttt. I would never fight one of those guys with a stick in every day life...they'd mess me up. Arai-sensei told me that there is no limit to how long you can take classes though. For some people if they feel like they would rather stay back in class and not advance into let's say Intermediate because they feel their kata isn't up to pace, they can do so for however long they feel comfortable. He'd rather you master what you learn from the beginning rather than trying to jump to the end as quickly as possible.
