Scion - God Ascension Downtime 2 of 4 - Apotheosis Party!

[Livejournal entry - Apotheosis Party in Kurayashiro]
So, I'm not the only one of my friends to have ascended to godhood. In fact, everyone in my band and in Storm's band are now gods. ^_^ To celebrate our ascension, I hosted a huge party in Kurayashiro, my sanctum in Takamagahara. ^_^ It was incredible!! Everyone was there! The party itself lasted over 24 hours and it was so much fun, and a bunch of my guests stayed a couple extra days on my invitation just to catch up, hang out, and relax. I'm still so excited that I just have to tell you all about it, so here goes. I gotta warn you, this is all going to be a bit chaotic, but bear with me. The details are worth it. And I have tons of pictures too, all posted on my website! ^___^

So, Adam and the rest of my band showed up. Adam, who among divine circles is now known as Amwed, God of Knowledge Discovered, arrived with Syn, and she's pregnant! Adam's going to be a father! I'm so excited! He's been been working with the Aesir and other pantheons to develop the tactics and strategy of the war against the titans. All told, Adam remained his normal, subdued self during the party, which was a nice counterpoint to the crazy antics of some of my other guests.

I know what you're thinking: T-Bone was at the center of those crazy antics, right? But actually, he wasn't. He did pull one over on me when he arrived with Laura, that skanky scion of Loki he likes. I was kinda pissed off about that, because I'd expected him to, you know, bring his wife, Dahlia, who also happens to be one of my best friends, to the party. >_<

But it was all just a trick. "Laura" was really Dahlia disguised with an illusion. And I totally fell for it. ^_^ I'm not surprised Dahlia was an accomplice...she's become more of a trickster herself since she married T-Bone. After that bold introduction, however, T-Bone kinda faded into the background and didn't make much of a splash. I almost got the feeling that he didn't want to draw a lot of attention. Then again, as a god his appearance has changed dramatically. He has become an ominous silhouette and is known as "Le Chanson de la Fou," and, true to his legend, he's become a God of Madness.

Of course, Louis accompanied T-Bone too, and apparently T-Bone's been doing a lot of work with werewolves just like I've been working with vampires. So, that makes T-Bone the Patron of Werewolves, Pierre the Patron of Zombies, and I'm the Patron of Vampires. Adam, Elisa and Charles need monsters to patronize too! ^_^

Elisa arrived with Pierre and Quinn...and they're all doing well. Alandra and Veronica spent the party in a separate area of the estate with the other children (like Jacob's youngest and Carina's twins), being cared for by Miko and some of my other kami servants. Pierre, now known as Pierre Ghede, God of Life, Death and Undeath, added some life to the party and seemed to get on well with a lot of the other guests. He really likes Alexandra Kanakaredes (from Cathy's Haven scion band), a scion of Artemis...but she seems pretty reserved around him. Honestly, Pierre has this weird thing about being interested in women with whom he thinks will give him strong, beautiful children. It strikes me as exploitively chauvinist, but I don't feel like I have the right to throw stones, given the way I find myself, more and more, using my wiles to manipulate people.

Elisa, whose god name is Tlecuezaloteotl, Goddess of Sacrificial Fire, spent a lot of time catching up with me since she's been busy trying to integrate into both the Aztlanti and the Loa (given her marriage to Pierre). It hasn't been easy for her, but Elisa's tough enough to handle just about anything. I ribbed her a bit about monopolizing Quinn's time, but really, since I'm not working on any new music right now, I don't mind ^_^.

Charles, who is now known as Xi Xietong Huang, God of Harmonious Collaborative Effort, was all business, as usual. Like Adam, he was a bit reserved at the party, but then again, he doesn't know the other guests as well. He and Yi spent some time talking, and I made sure to introduce him around and tell everyone what a wonderful guy he is. Seriously, I've really come to respect and rely on Charles over the past year since we met. He's been a real boon to our group, and I hate to say it, but the spirit of cooperation he brings to the group really throws Ray's sometimes disruptive "loner" approach into sharp relief.

Speaking of Ray, he's the only guest I invited (other than the other members of my pantheon) who didn't show up. It saddens me to think that he's decided to sever ties to his old band, but maybe it's for the best. Things between him and me were complicated, and now that he's been absent for so long, I find it harder and harder to remember why I thought I loved him...

Geez, Erika. Way to depress your readers. >_< Anyway, back to the party!! ^_^

Storm's group attended, of course. Storm himself is now known as Regalakis, God of Champions. It suits him. ^_^ He's a pretty charismatic guy, so he mixed and mingled with everyone, but of course he spent a bit more time chatting with Tabby. I could see the desire lurking behind her eyes; I'm pretty sure those two had their fun a bit later, once the party had kinda died down and couples wandered off to the many guest rooms I had arranged for them. What really surprised me, though, was how Storm took to my sister, Miyako!

See, Miyako didn't want to be there. She still doesn't like me...for a lot of reasons. I wish she did, because I adore her, despite her miserable attitude. But Izanami sent her as a proxy (mom obviously can't come to Takamagahara anymore). Her friend Cathy from the Haven scion band did her best, with some success, to draw Miyako out a bit, and I think Miyako really was glad to see a bunch of her old band-mates (all of whom showed up as well). But Miyako and Storm ended up chatting for a long time. I don't know what he did, but somehow he managed to put her at ease. Then again, they were briefly introduced at my album debut party at AMP about a year ago.

Anyway, the rest of Storm's group are doing well too. Jacob (a.k.a. Annar Baudor, God of Fatherhood...how appropriate!!) and all his kids showed up. The eldest, Maggie and Caleb, enjoyed the party with the adults for awhile, but before too late the servants shepherded them off to less risque portions of the estate. His other sons and daughters got to play with Alandra, Rose, Veronica, and the other children who had come with their parents, like Maria Gonzalez's kids. As for Jacob, he attended with his wife Hel (yes, the Hel) on his arm, and I was both humbled and pleased that she deigned to come to my party! I did my best to get on good terms with her. After all, I am the Amatsukami's diplomat now, and I have a vested interest in building bridges with other death gods.

Helena and Cesar were both there. Cesar was as happy-go-lucky as usual, and really seemed to enjoy himself at the party. He's been doing pretty much what he always did: killing the bad guys in the name of his pantheon. I don't think he's officially become the god of anything yet...or if he has, I haven't heard of it. Helena, Goddess of Hard Winters and Matron of Calculation and Computation (bet Adam's jealous!) is still her icy self, but underneath it all, it's SO heartwarming to see how much in love she and Cesar are!! She's been working with Adam a lot, helping the Aesir strategize tactcis in the war against the titans. I bet she has a better head for logistics than Adam does...but he's probably better at front-line tactics. ^_^

Cesar brought his followers, of course. I had no idea that Machete and Aife (my bean-sidhe friend from Donegal) were an item! Why didn't Aife say something last time we talked! >_< Anyway, I'm happy for them. they seem like such an odd couple, but their relationship really seems to be working out. I wish them the best.

Melvin is another of Cesar's followers, and I get the impression others take advantage of his a lot because he's such a nice, meek guy. He's ridiculously capable, though, especially now that he, like Cesar's other followers (or like mine, for that matter) have been touched by the divine. And he's unattached. ^_^ I thought maybe he and Kimiyo would be able to hit it off, so I tried to set them up at the party. They seemed to get along well enough, but since they're both a bit shy and reserved, things didn't move very quickly. Hmmm. I'll have to work on that. ^_^

Carina (now known as Amunet II, Protector of All Felines) and Sam (now known as Salem, God of Conspiracy) are doing very well. They brought the twins, of course. Sam was also followed by several annoying gray aliens...I'm not sure why. >_< He didn't seem any happier about it than anyone else, and they were mostly harmless. Anyway, Sam is still horribly suspicious. He's a great guy, really, but I can't talk to him for too long without tiring of his paranoia. Carina, on the other hand, is delightful, and seems to have gained a lot more confidence. She, Cathy, and Maneki, all daughters of Bast, were like kittens in a catnip factory at the party. They seemed to have a wonderful time!

Speaking of Cathy, like I said, she did a good job drawing Miyako out, and it was fun to watch her play with Carina and Maneki. But I'm a bit worried about her. She came without a date, and I got the distinct impression she was trying to make herself available at the party, in case anyone wanted to hook up with a cute, vivacious cat girl. No one did, though. >_< I wonder if she's been lonely lately? Or if anyone I know would be a good match for her? I know she's still infatuated with me, but unfortunately I don't really share her interest, and couldn't indulge it even if I did.

The other members of Cathy's band are well. Maria Gonzalez has a couple of children, and from what she told me, they were born under auspicious circumstances. The poor girl was raped by Pan, and they are his children. But she's  a strong young woman, and she loves her children dearly. I was pleased that she stayed a couple days after the party. I don't really get much opportunity to socialize with the Haven scions, so it was nice to get to know Maria better. She's a good person, but touched by darkness, which is something I can identify with and find compelling.

Wendel, T.S. and Alexandra were there too, but I was glad to meet their comrade Hector for the first time. When Pierre, T-Bone and I helped them in Yomi, Hector was absent for some reason, so I wasn't able to make his acquaintance. It turns out he really IS a great guy, just like everyone says!

Unfortunately, Brent Dankmeyer showed up too, uninvited. I'm not quite sure why Sera activated the axis mundi at Red Mountain and let that lecherous jerk in...but once he was here, I couldn't exactly kick him out. It would have been rude. But Elisa made sure he stayed out of the way at first (yay Elisa ^_^), and then Andy and Sonny (I'll get to them later) made she he was distracted.

My other scion guests included Hinako and her band (Ryunomaru, Maneki, and Kazumi). I adore Hinako and always enjoy spending time with her. Since Amaterasu briefly attended the party too, the three of us got to spend some rare moments together, and it was nice. Hinako and Ryunomaru are a happy couple now too, which makes me happy, since I argued that they should have been together since day one. ^_^

Saltmarsh Andy, a scion of Manannan mac Lir whom I met at my album debut party in AMP attended, and brought with him one of his friends from his band of scions, and rather slovenly scion of Sun Wukong named Sonny. Their antics were highly entertaining...though I'm pretty sure Sonny spiked the punch with some sort of liquor that affects even those of us who can withstand the strongest mortal drinks. Some of the guests really let loose! I'm glad I didn't drink much...I would have hated getting plastered when hosting my own party. I gotta hand it to Andy, though. He told a lot of stories, many of them tall-tales. But he also collected a lot. He's basically a bard, and I admire his willingness to spread our stories far and wide. It's because of people like him that our myths and legends live on throughout time.

Other notable guests included Persephone, of course. It's always wonderful to see her, though it was the first time we've met since I became a goddess. This was primarily a "new gods only" affair, but aside from Persephone and Hel, I did invite my pantheon, as it would have been impolite not to. I've already mentioned that Amaterasu showed up, but I really didn't except anyone else, except for maybe Raiden. He made a brief appearance. But I was surprised and really pleased when Marishiten appeared! She's one member of the Amatsukami with whom I can really get along. In fact, we have a lot of similarities. She's connected to light and darkness too, and she's also something of a rebel. ^_^.

The guest list was rounded out by all my youkai friends (Chiaki, Togo, Teruko, etc.), Aife, Scathach, Tanith, and my other fae friends from Ireland. I enjoyed seeing all of them. It was a bit creepy to see Rakushinpu (my hengegumo "spider lady" friend from Shikoku) studying Jacob's eldest son Caleb. It won't be long before Caleb is old enough to decide for himself whether or not he will go to Rakushinpu as per the deal his father made with her a few years ago. Chiaki spent most of her time hanging around with Mercy. Those two are still a couple, and seem to be doing well. I'm not sure exactly how deep their relationship is, but I guess time will tell.

And last but not least, David Bowie showed up! The Vampire King himself! I wasn't sure if he would come or not, but we have been collaborating on some music projects and have become friends of a sort, so I'm glad he made an appearance. I luv him so much! ^_^

About halfway through the party, in honor of the Tanabata festival (I had my youkai followers escort the guests to a crystal clear stream of pure water that runs through Sakokushiro palace just outside of my sanctum. I couldn't go myself because of my taint >_<, and for the same reason, no streams run through Kurayashiro. The guests were all given slips of paper on which to write a wish or two, and they then sent these down the stream on small bamboo floats. The whole thing is a practice sometimes observed during Tanabata in Japan, so I thought it would be fun and appropriate, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Well, almost everyone. I'm not positive, but something Dahlia said made me think that T-Bone might have refrained from participating. I fear he has become a bit paranoid in his godhood...though as a god of madness, it's only to be expected.

Eventually, as the partying, dancing, and drinking died down, people returned home or retreated in twos and threes to my guest rooms to continue celebrating with their lovers in private. ^___^

So yeah, it was a blast! I've got to host another party like that again sometime. Maybe if the Haven Scions become gods, I'll honor the occasion with something similar. After all, it's not everyday that scions become gods. In fact, it's pretty damn rare...which make it all the more auspicious that both my band and Storm's ascended at roughly the same time. I'll choose to think of it as a good sign in the war against the titans. ^_^
