Welp, that's it.

With the end of III this month, I'm officially all out of DJ residencies... which seems to me awfully weird, since I've had at least one going since probably 2002. It's sort of bittersweet on my end - I do like DJing a heck of a lot... and I'll be spinning in Philly and at Freaks United in only a few short weeks. After that, it's Eclipse in ( Read more... )

There's life beyond the clubs. We do stuff every weekend, and only wind up at a club maybe 1/3 of the time.

Oh, definitely. It will probably just get some time to get used to things... sort of like when we moved out here to MD.

If anything comes up I think you guys would be interested in, I'll pass it on. We're going out of town for the next two weekends though.

You guys going to Philadelphia for Projektfest/Drac's Ball?

Sounds like a plan...!

Probably no DB for us, due to money and such... at least not this round!

I still love DJing, but I am glad that I don't know what is happening behind the curtain as much - just coming in and doing my thing a few times a month is more than enough for me.

While I have lost touch with some people who I don't see outside of clubs, I have also found a whole new set of people I like to hang out with. I've also discovered the joys of just relaxing at home.

I hope you can find a balance that works for you.

It's the losing touch bit that particularly miffs me at the moment. As for finding/encountering new sets of people... well, I don't know where even to begin on that one. At home is definitely nice, but I do get fidgety at this point occasionally to do something social...

I do still love DJing, but I think this all might work out in the wash eventually. I like the sound of just going in and doing my thing here and there.

I've found new people through going to concerts, getting involved with interest groups, and looking online for interesting things to do. Maybe more cooking-type programs for you and H?

Maybe? I think it's more just getting into the habit of taking up people on house party invites, or something. Maybe it's just the break in routine that's making me antsy right now...

i have no idea what a mmorpg lifestyle is, but if it means that you are too old to be hanging around in clubs on weekdays until the wee hours & still finding yourself able to function at work come 8:15am, then that's the kind of lifestyle that i have currently.

as for weekends, i haven't been to a 'club' on a weekend in forever, unless you count the 9:30. i'm really into sitting around my house (or someone else's house or roofdeck) with a bottle of wine & some food. maybe i have pants on, but that's a gamble.

MMORPG = mass multiplayer online role playing game - i.e., World of Warcraft and such. Not to knock playing video games, but it's like having most of my chats in online IMs... it's kind of odd.

Heh, I still stay up to around 1:00-1:30 or so every night; going out whenever's usually not the problem insomuch as having a good time when I get wherever I'm going. Wine / food / porch is a winning combo, but every once in a while both of us get that itch to do *something*. In the past, it's been Midnight, and unless our friends happened to be there / DJing, it was like a gothy version of "No Exit".

yeah...staying up isn't the problem for me. it's staying up in loud bars, drinking cheap booze, etc. i feel like straight up ass the next day.

i'll dj from time to time, sure, but for the most part it feels good to be able to sit on my can on the weekends & enjoy being able to do that, as well as hang out with other friends who DON'T hang out in goth clubs.

Vlad,
hehehe welcome to how I felt back in 07. Left my own event, and retired, thus going poof completely from everyone until as of recent. ^.^

Sometimes it's OK to make room for other things. I've been there, done that. BTW, I just added you as a friend. We're already connected on myspace and twitter in the past, so I hope it's OK. :)

Hey, welcome to the madness! Shame I don't post all that often here, but I'm a Facebook addict. :)
