Obviously I don't think he'll be good for the country. But it's a tough country- it'll survive fairly intact.
I really hope that Republicans can come out of this election with more or less that attitude- because it was really obnoxious four and eight years ago to listen to people moan about how Bush would be the death of America. (Apparently, he wasn't.) Now that it's our turn to be on the outs, let's not do the same thing.
Fortunately, the Judicial Branch will be able to prevent any blatantly unconstitutional stuff he tries to push through Congress.
I'll happily be proven wrong, but right now I have the feeling like a large portion of Obama supporters didn't vote for what they thought they were voting for. Or had not idea what they were voting for and voted anyway.
I agree with some of the stuff I've seen out there, that we should stand behind Obama as our president to help him get our country back on its feet. This, however, does not mean I won't stand in steadfast opposition to him if he tries to turn this nation socialist or other such things that I believe are not going to better our country.
Hear hear. If we whine for the next 4 years like so many people did during the past 8, we'll be just as bad as they were.
My dad reminded me that Jimmy Carter was elected during his first presidential election... and then we got Reagan. This (in my mind) just goes to show that all hope is not lost, despite how things may seem. (And, if all else fails, God is still sovereign.)

Though, Palpatine didn't look or act like The Emperor when he first took office. ;-)

I pray that the old conservative hounds on the court hang on and don't die or retire while weathering this whiplash-inducing lurch to the left.
I'm still an American. But you can bet I'll still be watching policy like a hawk. And if I don't like something, I will bring attention to it here.

I find this kind of unintentionally funny, given the actual Constitutional role of the Judicial Branch.
(In a nutshell, everything they can do to prevent unconstitutional stuff is unconstitutional.)
