A salute
I'm breaking my lj radio silence today to raise a metaphorical glass to my beloved Aunt Leslie, who never wanted children but who lovingly, gracefully, and joyfully took on the role of mother for me, without the public recognition, but, I hope, with most of the reward. You're the absolute best, Mom.
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms out there, and especially to those unsung nurturers who step in to fill that space when it's been left empty. I can't begin to imagine how you all do what you do, but I'm grateful beyond words to you.
