The Last Rom
Pretty fun weekend full of drinking fighters and plenty of adventures. I gotta say though, I'm loving fighting games more and more by the day. Been actually trying to play tournament level Marvel. My current AIM? Learning Magneto. I've been playing low tiers for years but before this game fizzles out for good I wanna stop being a total scrub at it so I'm starting here. And for anyone ready to give me shit for playing a high tier, let me tell you.
There is nothing more difficult in this game than learning the various combos and retarded setups needed to actually use these guys. You may bag on magneto players for using infinites, but have you ever tried to learn those infinites? Learning the ROM infinite has demanded more skill and spot on execution from me than anything I've ever done in this game in the almost 10 years of playing it I've been doing.
Anyhow, besides Marvel, I've been playing a LOT of Street Fighter 4. Maining Bison (Dic) and Alt-ing Ryu/looking for possibly another alt (Rog, maybe?)West Coast Warzone is going down in a couple of weeks and I really need to be there to compete. Beginning my quest on the road to SBO. I'm gonna qualify for it one day, I swear. If it kills me.
Other than SF4, what other fighters are there out there that are new? King of Fighters XII. But it's King of Fighters so it already sucks. Next. BlazBlue. Which is.... good. But I hate a lot of the character designs. It's a cosplayer's fighting game, essentially. It's as if they put King of Fighters on top of a game with a good engine. It's fun, but I'll never take it beyond casuals. Right now I'm REALLY feeling Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Total throwback to the early days of the VS. series and I absolutely love it. I don't know who I'm maining just yet but I have much to figure out with this one.
Aside from this weekend, today was the first day of school! After this year I'll be transferring and receiving my AA :D First day back wasn't too bad. Played some Third Strike. Saw Weston and Oscar and some others I haven't seen in a long time (Including Vincent's Dad/Fire Chicken guy) and all my classes are pretty chill. Looking forward to spending this semester as a normal 21 year old.
But hmmm. I ended up talking about fighting games and didn't really talk about this weekend so here's a summary.
-Got rocked at FFA
-Went to Frank and Sons and David bought EarthBound new with box and everything for $200
-Went to Nisei Festival, it sucked but its Little Tokyo so of course it was boring.
-HARRIS AND I GOT CHASED OUT OF THE LITTLE TOKYO MALL
-Happy Hour at Chin Ma Ya
-Sake at Beer Station
-Lots of Cue! Pictures
-Watched the Ranbats at AI. Pissed I didn't get to enter.
-Awesome final match of Keno vs Combo Jack
-THE TAGER PLAYER WITH 35 WINS
-Playing drunk DDR and realizing how awesome it is
-Playing drunk IIDX and realizing it DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY
And that's about it for the summary. I'll be buying a TE stick soon and looking for a T5 stick for my PS2. If anyone wants to get together to train just hit me up.
