- Topper Headon, in early 1982, was kicked out of the band for heroin addiction
- Manager Bernie Rhodes was a source of conflict; supported Joe Strummer over Mick Jones
- Terry Chimes left the band after Combat Rock tour; Jones was kicked out in September 1983
- Cut The Crap, the Clash's final album, was taken over by Rhodes, who altered Strummer's incomplete recordings
- The Clash was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, after the death of Joe Strummer
