Weekend
The Gong Show was a success, not quite as busy as the first one, but still very good. The judges were a little gong happy as only 4 or 5 acts did NOT get gonged. But overall there were some very good acts (a few that were Gonged were very good, just to long) We've instituted a new way of picking winners; the top two are picked by the judges and then the audience picks the overall winner. The top two acts were very good; a belly dance troupe and Violet the burlesque clown (who was totally hysterical.) I think Ren Fest going on hurt our total number of acts as I think we could have gotten quite a few more if Fest wasn't going on. Speaking of Fests...
On Saturday I went to Renaissance Festival. I hadn't been in a number of years and it was time to go - although everyone else in the world also decided to go Saturday. Hold crap was it packed, I planned on getting there to see vilification tennis, I wanted to leave my house at 10:30 to get there by noonish. I left late (11) but figured I could still make it (Show starts at 12:30)... and not so much. I took me over two hours to get there; yuck.
Other then the over crowdedness it was really fun. I saw a number of people who I know who work there, I also saw many other random people who went on Saturday. Saw some shows, drank some mead and Guinness, ate way to much; you know the normal Ren Fest stuff.
Went home and promptly crashed, I didn't get up until 11 which bummed me out since I wanted to so see Mix Master Mike, who had a free show at First Ave Saturday. Oh well. Yesterday was just a chill day with friends, just what I needed.
