...with my lawyer and two real estate agents at 3pm on Wednesday, November 29th. This will be the day I sign the papers for my house. An hour before the signing, we will do a final walkthrough of the house - which makes me happy - I miss it already (and need to make some decisions about big pieces of furniture before the movers get there - quick measurements are in order).
The next morning, my movers will show up, box what is left (after I follow the instructions of
anselm23 and
javabill involving cutting the crap out of my house before moving) and I will head down the road with the four dogs to my new house, to await the delivery of my new bed, my new mattress (these were very important for me, especially the mattress, since my back's really bugging me a lot and I can actually afford and fit a queen size mattress in the MBR) and the things I ordered for my studio.
Expect me to be posting from the 'Hut on Thursday night - the cable people are coming Friday sometime during the day to hook up the cable and cable modem.
I will have: a studio for recording and mixing projects - so those of you who I've either worked with a bit already or have talked to about it, I will be well-equipped very soon. Since I'm buying my own birthday and christmas presents, I have chosen something wonderful. The house was a gift from my father - he left me the seed money to grow this new home (my down payment). I have memories of him from his best friends, and I will be able to observe the first anniversary of his passing with a thank you and a trip to Florida to put the new headstone on his grave (they buried him before I found him - or more accurately, before they found me).
Also - there will be a guest bedroom now - and a crafts/meditation room. Someplace to organize my yarn, patterns, sewing material and projects (well overdue hemming and such) and all the other "crafty" things I have.
There have been so many bumps in this road - especially in the last three weeks (wow, the weeks came in threes as well), I haven't had time to dwell on anything, just rushing to get it all done before the move.
But the first night I sleep in my new bed in my new house, the first time the dogs use their own door to go to the fenced, safe backyard whenever they want...the first time I have friends over to the house, it will be worth every thing I've gone through in the last three years and more.
Thank you to all my friends, you all helped me get here. I look forward to being closer to many of you (physically) again. Thank you, Dad, for looking out for me and being there for me in spirit and giving me so much when I needed it the most. I miss you every day and I'm so grateful you left me a better brother than I could ever have asked for - and a sister, and three nephews who are awesome. You chose some wonderful people to be your friends, I hope I will follow your example the rest of my life. Thank you especially to the poets who inspired me and helped me find such an importatnt outlet to help me heal and express myself. I look forward to a rich life as it continues and gets better as I finally settle my roots in soil I can truly call "home."
