This week....

...as it started on a wet note, was really not bad.

I got to class early, and midi class is fast turning into my favorite class this semester (with recording I running a very close second). We got out early enough that I could catch the 12:05 commuter train out of south station (otherwise I'd be waiting until the next one at around 4pm) and was able to go to UPS when I got back to pick up my Peak LE for the Powerbook. Yes, I actually paid for software. And I have to say, for the money, it's well worth it. This version (5.0) has a lot more bells and whistles than 4.whatever.whatever we have in the midi labs - it's going to make recording a certain collection of vinyl a LOT easier, not to mention having just what I need to do the job of recording all those tracks for Final Scratch and being able to edit them when needed. I'll also be able to use it for recording the radio show - it can record up to a 10G file if needed (in 5 2G files), so I will be able to use it just fine for just about anything I do.

I'm getting the contract in the email tomorrow for the showcase I'm playing at Winter Music Conference in March. In Miami. It falls during my Spring Break from school. Plus I have money. I've been wanting to go to this thing for over six years, and now I'm finally going - and playing there, too!! damn! I think Cait's coming with me - and I'm SO psyched I'm finally going to be able to meet some industry reps I've talked to all these years but never met in person because they were in hell-ay (like Aaron Michelson at Ubiquity, among others). Plus a bunch of my Memphis house mafia friends will be there. Awwwww yeah. :) Plus I'll get to hang with Ben Armstrong and Pat, and the other house head DJs...yesssss.

Yeah, today was a good day. I didn't even have to use my AK.
