After seeing the lineup for Coachella this year, I'm struck by how in three days they have less acts I'd want to see than in two days back when I actually wanted to (and did) attend the thing.
It's been a long time since then.
I mean, really - Groove Armada does a lovely DJ set, but that's the best they can do this year? It looks like they stuffed the lineup with all these crappy mid-tier bands and then threw a handful of the same electronic/dance acts they were doing five years ago. And DJ AM and Travis Barker? Bwahahahaha the days of Herbert and the Chemical Brothers and Z-Trip are long long LONG gone, my friend. There's like NO hip hop on the bill, either. I guess they burned out on that and wanted a bunch of skinny-jeans-wearing hipster bullshit bands.
But oh, My Bloody Valentine is reuniting!! Whoop de fucking do, it's not like it's Rage Against the Machine or something worth seeing. They weren't even good live in their heyday. Please.
It's good to know I'm not missing anything. I was half worried that they'd have this amazing lineup and I'd have to drag myself through three days in the fucking DESERT drinking $4 bottles of water with no water fountains.
Enjoy, suckers!
