My new skis came today. I now have a pair of 158s and a pair of 110s, so there's a fair bit of difference between the two. I'm not used to so much board being in front of my boots. Looking forward to taking them out tomorrow morning. Should be a LOT more stable at speed (which isn't a huge amount for me, but it will make such a difference). I'm going to have to actually break down an buy a pair of poles. Then again, I'm still feeling the occasional twinge from my shoulder which I injured last year flailing my arms around as I fell because I didn't have poles. It will be a learning curve, because I'll be using them in turns and such, but it will be nice to be able to push myself along in the lift line.
Not sure how difficult turning will be - they have a small turning radius (Head XRC 300s), but they also have a nice high binding mount which usually means easier to turn it, and they're shaped, too. May have to learn to keep the skis from crossing in front again, but that's okay because I'll be a lot more stable with all that ski in front of me. They're a lot longer, but they're also ridiculously light compared to my other boards. I've also got a proper ski bag for them (needed a bigger one). I'm not sure if they'll still fit on my back seat or if I'll have to put the seats down. We'll see.
Looks like they got a few inches of snow on the mountain yesterday, which is good. I'm betting all the snow has drained out and should be good for an early start tomorrow. Simone and I are talking about doing some skiing/boarding on the 20th/21st since she's got Tuesday and Wednesday off that week (and I'm pretty much a lazy bum).
insafemode - I had a weird dream last night where they laid you off from your job. Given our conversation about your work hours and pay on the way back from the reading, it was particularly jarring since it all smooshed together in that weird dream-logic. So it was "I am working way too much but getting paid well" to "I just got laid off" which made me think "he gave you lots of hours right before he laid you off because he felt bad." I know you're not going anywhere, but it was quite distressing to me until I woke up and realized what happened with my crazy brain. :)
Now I'm going to scatter the last of the ice that showed up on my steps last night while I was gone and then watch me some Dexter. Hellz yeah.
