365/365 for novices...

...that's what I'm doing.  (repost from an earlier reply to greenpurple  which sums it up)

Here's the funny part - last night as I was writing and crossing out and writing some more, I had a realization. I can't just write something and it's done for good or bad. I'm going for my own 52/52 (a poem a week) but I will write every day. Like the bunny slope for writers. Writing every day is necessary for me, but I know how I feel about what I write and want it to be a good thing in my life instead of just a thing of stress.   Doing it this way will get me writing every day, and give me a time frame to finish pieces in a way that makes me happy.

I'm glad I faced this up front. I think this year will be healthy for me and really good for my writing.

The other part of this is reading it every week.  I'm already at the reading, I just need to put it out there.  Shooting for trying to read my own work (new or significantly edited) every week.

This is a lot like the bunny slope analogy - I know from experience I get better at things with practice.  Skiing definitely has shown me that.  For me, there's no real substitute for turning things over repeatedly and finding the subtleties with repetition and variation.  I like where this is going.

52/52, 365/365, poetry
