...how it's become Slam instead of Poetry.
Synchronized, slightly more stylized versions of college cheerleading with Greek tragedy rewrit small (very very small, smaller than subscript small) has replaced any attempt at poetry.
No, I'm not impressed.
I'm wondering if the women's slam will be the last bastion of hope in what slam's becoming.
Call me a throwback but I think artistry of the poem itself should count somewhere (i guess that would be under the "orignality" maybe?), and no matter how synchronized your routine, it should not overrule the limitations of your very very pedestrian material.
I'm also reminded of how the home field advantage plays so damn large in team slam.
Gah. I think someone's infected me with the bah humbug.
