Was watching Doctor Who last night because I couldn't sleep/ was procrastinating, really. Anyway, rewatched the season 5 finale because the first time I watched it, there was too much timey-wimey time traveling stuff and I just couldn't grasp the sequence of events. But I think I only grew to love Rory Williams, who is the boy who waited 2000 years for his girlfriend.
So anyway there's Amy Pond who's the doctor companion and her boyfriend/fiancee Rory Williams. Rory died a couple of episodes back and his death was super extra sad because him dying meant that he never existed before. So Amy doesn't remember him or their engagement at all. :(
But anyway, it all has a sort-of happy ending because Rory comes back as this Roman dude with the shining armour and all that (long story). But Amy doesn't remember him because to her he never existed before. But she eventually does and long story short he accidentally semi-kills her. But the Doctor comes back and tells her she could still be alive if she is locked inside this huge box called the Pandorica for 2000 years until her living DNA (Amy as a child) touches the box to revive adult Amy Pond. So anyway he tells the Doctor that he'll guard this box until Amy is able to return to life <3. Oh he can't die because he is plastic and not human. (long story)
2000 years later, Child Amy touches the box and Adult Amy is alive and realises that the Pandorica is in the museum. And she hears this on one of them audio thingys.
According to legend, wherever the Pandorica was taken throughout its long history, the centurion would be there, guarding it. He appears as an iconic image in the artwork of many cultures and there are several documented accounts of his appearances and his warnings to the many who attempted to open the box before its time. His last recorded appearance was during the London blitz in 1941. The warehouse where the Pandorica was stored was destroyed by incendiary bombs, but the box itself was found the next morning at safe distance from the blaze. There are eye witness accounts from the night of the fire of a figure in Roman dress carrying the box from the flames. Since then, there have been no sightings of the lone centurion and many have speculated that if he ever existed he perished in the fires of that night, performing one last act of devotion to the box he had pledged to protect for nearly 2000 years.
OHOH, he didn't die in the fire by the way. He was still well alive and at the time where Adult Amy returned to life, he was the museum watchman dude. <3 <3 <3
