Easter Sci-Fi

Hope everyone is enjoying Easter :)

So Doctor Who - well it was all about the last five minutes for me and *that* message (under the cut - SPOILERS)

And Red Dwarf - oooh part 1 felt strange, I couldn't get used to the new glossy spaceship. But then came a line that made me chuckle...and (SPOILERS under the cut)

Your song is ending.... He will knock four times OH THAT IS SO THE MASTER - CAN YOU HEAR IT? THE DRUMS DOCTOR? *excited*

Lee Evans was great in this. Michelle Ryan great at the action but not a match for Mr T in the acting department but still far far better than Kylie was (sorry Kylie). I also loved Russell T's writing in getting the Doctor to ask what each passenger's plans were that day - the simple human things in life are the greatest like chops and gravy - so true :)

Onto Red Dwarf - scutter bug came back! that I did not expect but was pleased. Part 1 I felt was a bit slow, and I think this 3 parter might get criticism for jumping the shark by some...but you know what, guilty pleasures and all - I really enjoyed seeing Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten again. I loved the scene in the electronics store when they discover they are characters from a TV show in an alternate reality in Part 2. My other favourite scene Lister on the bus with the kids - it was cute. "Your really disgusting...but sometimes your also really brave." I had a bit of a fandom squee when I realised the sci-fi store they visit is a comic book store in Richmond that also stood in for Bilbo's comic shop where Tim Bisley worked in Spaced - I visited it a few years ago. :) And when they finally caught up with the show's creator who tell's them they will die, Rimmer's "All I wanted was a sitcom of my own set in a biscuit factory" LOL caught my ticklebone. Was it the best episode? No. But I do think it could've been much much worse, and I enjoyed it for it was - a chance for the fans to see the characters they love again.

doctor who, red dwarf, comedy, tv, spaced
