Richard Curtis clearly loves rock and pop. I remember hearing him talk of his love for pop music in a documentary about Blackadder and how he and Ben Elton would often talk about what was in the charts. And Curtis' love for pop and rock in this movie shines through. I really know little about the pirate radio stations of the 60s but I cannot imagine what is was like not to have pop music stations. Taken for granted I guess. This film does feel different to his others, and must admit that the plot in parts feels a bit weak. I loved the stag night montage, and Christmas on the boat vs Christmas with the beaurocrats. But there's so much fun, and joy in this movie, and the ensemble cast of the DJs had an on screen chemistry that I felt was believable. I did care about them at the end of the film. I just wish the father/son plot developed more than it did. I adored Chris O' Dowd and Nick Frost's performances. And Rhys Ifans in a Curtis movie always = win. Katherine Parkinson - wish she'd be given more to do with her role but she played it brilliantly.

Favourite quote: No no, don't do that. I love a girl with... wet hands.
