babettew54 the mighty boosh
I guess I have
missy_manic to thank for this one. The Mighty Boosh comedy show pretty much passed me by on its TV run but I watched the DVD's and pretty much instantly liked it. It's a charming show that I thought for some reason would be much darker than it it is. It's actually quite innocent and brilliantly original. I love the songs, and of course the all the colourful characters! This cracks me up every time (though for those who've never seen it - its best within context of the whole episode):

I was already familiar with Julian Barratt from watching the comedy series Asylum but his work alongside Noel Fielding is a gem and I've since also seen their work together on the show Unatural Acts.
theatre
I guess my interest in theatre really thrived whilst at university. I had been to the theatre before with my parents and as part of drama at school. But at university I saw performances by various societies and more importantly, started to study plays. I read and loved Arthur Miller, David Mamet, Edward Albee (even met him and got an autograph!), Tennessee Williams, Paula Vogel, David Auburn etc. I loved reading these plays and from this really appreciate screenplay writing and playwright's ability to condense a story. This is much more interesting to me then poetic language in novel form. Since living in London I try to take advantage of being the biggest theatre capital in England and watch performances. There's something very raw and personal about a good stage play. I've no desire to act or be part of it but I love being in the audience. I also have a good friend who is a theatre director by profession and I enjoy sharing a passion for plays with her. I like musicals too btw.
oasis
Well compared to all my other musical tastes in this meme (see below) This is probably the most 'credible'.
Oasis are a band that formed in the 90s and are still going strong. I used to think most of their songs were depressing till
missy_manic told me to listen to the lyrics more carefully. And actually, a lot of their songs are quite uplifiting. I always liked their sound however and live they are superb.
boyzone
Boyzone were the favourite boyband of my best friend at school. Conequently I too got to know a lot of their music through her passion. Not that I need much convincing since pop music has always been a favourite of mine :P

Not may people would admit to being a fan but this
techno band were the best of the 90s IMO. I still listen to their greatest hits CD. Their most famous hit is probably 'Get Ready For This'.

take that
The biggest boyband of the 90s. Forget NKOTB this was the UK's answer. Any UK-er on my f-list needs no introduction. They're comeback tour in 2006 was the most euphoric concert I've ever been to. People may dislike the fact that they are a manufactured band but this doesn't stop them from being the best live arena act I've seen.
let loose
I did say my music taste was cheesy right? This is another UK band from the 90s. A boyband who played their own instruments rather than dance routines and had a more rock/pop sound than dance/pop. They wrote some catchy tunes and again I still listen to their music. Their's a rumour they may support Take That if they tour again. I really hope this happens.
