Tool kick Again or Teh Story of How I Tore Up My Fingers

May 07, 2008 14:09

Heh, so I just got my new bass a week ago this Friday and my fingers are so raw it's not even funny. It even kinda sorta hurts to type! I am however a bit disappointed in myself. I haven't played bass in about 10 years and so while my brain remembers how to play, the muscle memory has gone kaput as well as the strength in my fingers. There was a time when I could crush a soda can that was unopened in one hand and make the soda pop the top, which is actually pretty cool to watch, but it is messy and sticky.

Now, before any of you assholes says, well what'd ya expect, let me just say, I expected as much, I'm not surprised, just disappointed in myself for letting my fingers get all weak and my calluses go away. So go suck a fvck if you were about to say that you gobbling ass muncher!

So anyhow, I used to play allot of Tool on the bass. Why did you play Tool on the bass? Go on ask. ASK ME! Ok, the reason i played allot of Tool was because they totally rocked(and still do), but because the bass lines were not easy to play and it challenged me. Trying playing Aenima straight through from the beginning to the end without ever missing a note. Go ahead. I dare you to try it.

So here I am, new kickass looking bass in hand and what do I decide to start playing? Tool of course. I've done so everyday since I got the bass. Suffice to say, my fingertips are raw and I have a nice sized blister starting on the end of the 2 picking fingers and, get this, the muscles in my fingers are sore as well as my wrist muscles. These are all good things though. Soon I shall have mighty calluses of doom and my hands will have the strength of 10 hands! MWHA HA HA HA HA!!!

I can't wait till I have my chops back so I can start playing my bass parts for the tracks I've been working on.
