I get into a lot of conversations about music these days. Mostly while DJ'ing, because I have to play a lot of stuff I don't like. And I will tell them I don't like it. (I still play it tho--I am not that arrogant)
I got asked one time while dancing what my favorite song ever was. And it was the one playing, so I was a little annoyed that I was talking and not dancing.
But when I think about it, I haven't really worked out the official "top x" list. And since most new music is crap these days, it is likely that it will be stable for a while.
So this is what I am sure of right now.
My favorite band is the Afro Celt Sound System. I could go on and on about them. But check it out.
My favorite song of all time is Swamp Thing by the Chameleons. Emotionally charged song about feeling overwhelmed. I credit that song with getting me through my breakup last year.
Of course there is all the songs I love to sing at Karaoke. But mostly that is just the songs I know that they happen to have at Chainsaw. And I am more than willing to get up there and sing a horrible song for humorous effect (as in The Kechup Song. Yes that one)
Other songs on the list:
Criminal Mind by Gowan (good enough that Styx added it to its shows after Gowan became their vocalist)
See, that is why I started thinking about this. I know lots of great songs. But which ones actually move me or entertain me enough to care about?
More to follow.
