Lake Side Bass

Ok... I've waited long enough to put this up. I meant to do it on Sunday of last week... I was to out of it. I went Saturday morning to pick up Chris (the groom) took him to pick up the cake, and also to eat some lunch before his big day. We got to Sonic about the time we were supposed to be at the church (oops). No big deal we were supposed to be there like 3 hours early. Well we ate and got there about 2 1/2 hours early... would I be a proper best man if I got him there on time... come on now!!!! Well we got dressed, and it was raining (the wedding was supposed to be outside). About 20 minutes before the wedding was supposed to start, it stopped raining so they dried all the seats and we still got to have it outside =) It turned out to be a really nice wedding. I am really happy for both of them, I hope it works out to be a great thing for them both.

I left there and headed straight to Jackson Lake. It took me about an hour to get down there, so I showed up about 30 minutes after my set was supposed to start. Luckily Subconscious was able to make it and start out for us. Torpor had to go eat dinner with his in-laws so he wasn't able to make it down until later, so I played about 30 mins, then Subconscious and I played b2b about 4 tunes each for the next 2 hours. Had a really good time mixing, was kind of strange because the volume was a bit low do to noise ordinances, being on a lake I guess it made a bit of sense. WE GOT TO USE FINAL SCRATCH OMFG I AM IN LOVE!!!!! TMouse one of the House dj's hooked us up and let us use Final Scratch. Put the cd in he loaded the tune up for me and I dropped it... oh man... that is sooooooo much better than a cd deck. SOOOOOOOOOOO much better. I am not getting cd dex I'm going after Final Scrath. That was the best thing I've ever seen. Met a great many ppl there and had a great time. Tester played there, he plays a great ragga set. Would have been even better had the cops not shown up twice during his set. Later on, I guess about 4.30 or so in the morning I played a nice liquid funk set. I was coming out of another guys set so it started a bit heavy, but, I decided that early in the morning with ppl going to sleep, I need to be playing the funk. So I started heading in that direction and ppl were kinda cheering me on in a quiet way, cus it was helping them get to sleep instead of the nasty nasty dnb that was getting played before my set. Ater an hour or so, I think I was nodding off while mixing I couldn't concentrate worth a shit, so I mixed one last tune in and let it play out. I helped clean up a little bit then the promoter and I talked for a while. Then I passed out on the couch... I think I forgot to mention, I got drunk, sobered up slightly, got drunker, and did it all over again.

Sunday I woke up about 10.30, I heard laughing on the deck outside and when I opened my eyes I was wide awake. I couldn't have gotten more then 5 hours of sleep. I have no clue why I was so awake. I got up and went outside, talked to some of the people for a while. Around 12.15 the promoter told me to get my darkest tune ready. I grabbed my box turned around and he was turning the amp up on the speakers =) I dropped Cenobyte by Raiden and just got darker. The bassbins were loud enough to make my face vibrate when I dropped DJ Zinc "Unkown" my teeth started vibrating. I am pretty positive everybody on the lake could hear my set. I let another DJ play a few of my tunes, I was curious what he played like. Not bad for somebody playing from somebody else's box. I played really dark, woke everybody up, and then I started getting into real vocally liquid funk. I love the sound of that stuff, it can be a pain to mix tho. Turned out to be a really nice set, I had a lot of fun with it.

All in all it was a really great weekend, I had an incredibly good time. One poor girl backed her car into a tree. I hope that didn't cost too much. One guy got stuck in mud. I think everybody went home exhausted, which in itself is a great thing =D... ok enough of my rambling, I had a great time... that's al lthat matters ^_~
