I've been looking at Twitter lately because they're always talking about it on This Week in Tech, and from what I've seen, it seems kind of like the 'McDonalds' of the social networking/web commuinication pool - millions of people use it every day, but there's no substance, no 'nutritional value'. It seems to be like a drastically watered down 'facebook' or a less-then-instant-messenger that only allows you to post quick little 256 character notes.
I really don't see the value of it - it seems kind of useless without all the trappings of a 'grown up' social networking or Web 2.0 system - in it's current incarnation it seems like it's just to blabbing about your day to day boredom and collecting 'friends' (i.e. people you've never met and never will meet but who 'tweet' like you do...) - but maybe it's simplicity it what attracts the masses to it, like WoW or WalMart. Ease of use with little to no real substance. Just seems a waste to me...
