First Home Owners Grant (aka Procrastination & Rage at people not doing their job)
So, for a good 11 months now I've been putting off my First Home Owners Grant app. Deciding that since i only have about a week before the deadline, I should probably complete it, I get everything sorted. Only to find that I need a certified copy of the contract of sale & a title search showing me as the registered proprietor. Fantastic. My solicitor will have these. I call her, it's 11:30, she answers. The conversation goes something like this:
"********* Solicitors, Diana speaking"
"Hi Diana, It's Crystal Smith here how are you?"
"I'm well thanks Crystal, what can I do for you?"
"Well, I was hoping you could pdf me a certified copy of my contract of sale & a title search for me, here's my email address ****"
"Ok and what was the address there?"
"************"
"Not a problem I can do that for you"
"Fantastic, thankyou"
We said our goodbyes. I realise this is a completely mundane conversation and prolly didn't need writing out in epic detail, but fuck you, don't read it if you don't want to. So i continue to refresh my browser, waiting oh-so-patiently for my email so that i can finally finish this application and send it away to get my money **YIPPEE**
It gets to 4:30. I have no email. I am getting a little ragey about this, but I'm also thinking, hey, maybe there's a problem with my email address. I call again. Conversation goes something like this:
"********* Solicitors, Diana speaking"
"Hi Diana, It's Crystal here how are you?"
"I'm well thanks Crystal, what can I do for you?"
"I was just calling to find out how you got on with those documents"
"Oh yes they're just here on my desk it was my next job"
"Fantastic thanks for that"
Again we said our goodbyes. Yes, this conversation was also mundane. But I'm ok with that. She sends these docs through. They are not what I want. These documents are useless to me. The title search doesn't show me as the registered proprietor. This is as useful to me as a porkchop. This angers me as her business day is now finished and I can't do anything about it til today. I email her pointing out that these are not in fact the documents I wanted. I get an email back today saying that I need the original document for it to be certified, and that there is a charge involved to get an updated title search, and that I need to pay it before she will order it. This presses my rage button, very efficiently, as she has left no detail as to how much this is, or details to allow payment. No "please provide your credit card no & expiry date", no "here's our account details", nothing. I get the shits. I call mum, she's in Gunnedah. Dad goes to see them, they are, after all, my parents solicitors, and my parents are in Gunnedah. Dad has no problem. The fee is $15. I drive halfway to Gunnedah to pick up said documents. My petrol is more expensive than the fee. This whole debacle could have taken a matter of 2-3 hours, including my travel to & from Gunnedah. Instead it took 2 business days.
Work
So I go to work last night, there are jobs on the jobs board, for the first time in about a month. Sweet. I have to get food out & fill the drink fridge. It's early, I put a box of coke in the fridge, and figure, thats ok, I'll fill it up later when we've sold more. Awesome. Too easy. Ask manager Claire what food needs to come out, she says to do it later & not worry about it. I ask what I have to get out so that I know. She won't tell me. Ok. Whatever. Half hour later manager Scott comes up and has a big cry points out that we have a jobs board & we have to do the stuff on it before we go. I take this opportunity to ask what food needs to come out. Scott rages. Hard. He flips his lid, completely. Tells me he'll send me home and not to speak to him like that. I'm so confused it's not funny. I rage. I'm like "I just asked what needs to come out, you're telling me to do the jobs on the board I'm asking what you want out & you're raging at me!! This makes no sense!!" Scott replies with "next time don't ask me in that tone of voice" and walks off. Without telling me what he wants. RAGE. Brent eventually gives me the checklist. Brent is a good manager. Brent is worthwhile. The rest of them are useless.
I have to work now. Stay tuned for the rest of my rage.
