Trip to Chicago
I'm going to Chicago next week (by way of Belleville, IL) and I'm so excited! I bought a guide book and I have a list of things that I want to see in my two days there:
Art Institute of Chicago
The Loop Sculpture Tour
Chicago Board of Trade
Grant Park
Field Museum of Natural History
John G. Shedd Aquarium
Museum of Contemporary Art
Navy Pier
Lincoln Park Zoo
Oriental Institute Museum
Chicago Botanic Gardens
So, think I can see all that in two days? Ah, probably not. I am probably going to pick and choose the cheapest things (ie, the FREE things).
Why am I going to Chicago? Because Davina is getting married (again) and I didn't go to her last wedding, so I'm going to this one. (I met Davina when I was in the Armed Forces School of Music.)
Interestingly enough, when I go to Chicago I will be staying with her ex-husband, with whom I'm going to the wedding--unless he has a date, in which case I'm going STAG. (That's the proper term, isn't it?) His name is Lucas, and I met him in the Armed Forces School of Music also. (Davina and Lucas are the only people from the SOM that I keep in touch with.)
Any why by way of Belleville? Because I want to see my Grandmother, who is in a Nursing Home, under Hospice care. I will probably head out to the Midwest again this year and see my Maternal Grandparents and my Paternal Grandparents (again), but I wanted to see her sooner.
When am I going back to NYC? Maybe at the end of June? I talked to Allison and she wants to go too. I'd like to get a group together to go up some extended weekend.
I wonder if my cousin Gus is going to come out here for a visit. His little sis, Christi, is going out to Arizona to visit her Aunt, so I think Gus wants to come her to visit his OTHER Aunt. I wonder if he understands what a flaming liberal my Mom is. After all, this is the cousin who has been going to the Baptist Church every week. Religiously. He's 13 and he's already decided that he's not going to have you-know-what before marriage. Yeah right. He'll probably be making babies by the time he's 17. Midwest, you know.
