Puzzlehunt

Mar 03, 2009 10:32

I participated in PuzzleHunt again this past weekend.  We ranked a 14th among 100 teams...Respectable, but nowhere close to actually finishing the hunt.  I think the balance was a bit skewed towards 'too long' this year.

I've posted a few puzzles for the curious.

Easiest: PigPen
Funnest: Googolplex
Longest: TripleSec

Lol, I'm working on PigPen right now.
Only 6 matches so far, one of them uses three squares...
Does Gorean (Gore-yen) count? ;-P

Okay, 8 matches and 2 are triples.
I think it might help if I knew who the singer was, and what that bottle of ... cough syrup(?) was...

Sorry so many posts...
Can you change direction mid-word on a triple-squared one?

Singer: I don't remember, I'll have to look tomorrow when I can see the answers again :)

Change direction:90 degrees, yes. 180 degrees (doubling back), no.

What about backtracking diagonally to a different square?
Down from square one, diagonally up and to the right from square 2 to the last square. As long as I don't use the same square twice for the same word I should be fine, right?
Thanks, this is fun to work on for a few minutes here an there.
I can't sit in front of it for too long, or I zone out.

Correction: we started with changes in direction being legit, but ended up not needing them. One direction only.

The singer is Diana Ross.

Well, I figured out the theme to pigpen, and I have 11 "words", but I still have 11 unused squares, and I can't make sense of an anything with them...

You have more work to do. :)
There will be 3 unused squares.
