Once a long, long, long time ago, I told myself that I would always remember 1986. For no particular reason other than - that I wanted to. I think I wanted to feel like I was in the middle of what would be an important year. There had been no event which spurred this - I just wanted it to be.

Of course, shortly thereafter and to this day, all I remember about that year was that I wanted it to be that something.

Actually, about the only thing I do seem to recall was during my 10th birthday party. One of my gifts had been a Marvel poster celebrating their 25th anniversary (a poster which I finally got rid of a few years ago) that had a few dozen characters from all of their then-current titles all walking/marching/running towards nothing in particular. What I do remember is one of my friends kept laughing at the Vision for having a red face.

Despite also including Dr. Druid, it *was* an awesome poster which I spent countless hours with.

I had lost touch with most of those kids a few years later after my family moved a mile away, but I became friends with that kid again in the late 90's and we had done a few local comic projects together. We've been friends for awhile on Facebook now and remains the only link I have to my pre-high school (so-called) life.
