I must be one odd duck, but since I've been back the days have flown by. Tuesday my dad decided that we should go kayaking...on white water rapids! Luckily the river he picked had only class I-III rapids, and we did have a tour guide. Still I managed to flip over twice, while trying to "surf." The first one because our guide encouraged me, "just lean back and you'll do fine." Yeah right, getting dumped over and scraping your knee against a rock, and then floating downstream while freaking out and trying to hold on to your paddle and kayak was really an adventure. My dad got the worst beating though, when he flipped over while paddling through a class III rapid. He got dunked over and slammed his leg hard against a rock. He managed to maintain a death grip on his paddle (which our guide had strongly encouraged us to sacrifice our bodies for) but lost the kayak. The group of trainees on a nearby raft managed to grab him, and the Justin our guide picked up Dad's kayak and brought it to him. Dad recovered with only some minor soreness in the before mentioned leg.
I'm starting my incredibly boring job on Monday. My dad did get in contact with the graphic arts department in the building though and they've expressed an interest in hiring me as an intern for next year, which would be a relief. The director wants to meet with me next week, and if it was possible he would take me "on loan" from the department I'm in now. However, I don't know how the higher ups would feel about that so it may not be possible. I'm going to pray that it will though, because that would mean that the summer months ahead would suddenly get a lot more interesting.
