NCIS: Los Angeles Fic: Two of a Kind
I don't write gen stories very often; it's just not how I'm wired. My muse is a romantic, so for the most part, I write romance. That being said, the idea for this story popped into my head this week, and I couldn’t resist writing it.
Basically, the inspiration for this story was the title. Yes, it's a not-so-thinly-disguised reference to the Garth Brooks song of the same name. Deeks and Callen are two of a kind: both men mooning over a girl, to put it bluntly. Deeks has been flirting mercilessly with Kensi for ages, and I wanted to explore that a little, but do it within the context of Callen's interest in Nell. It was a fun bit of dialog to write, because Deeks really does have a fun personality to play with.
This story is part of the Scenes from an Accidental Courtship series. I've written it as a post-ep for Touch of Death, so it falls after Methinks She Doth Protest Too Much and before Geek Love.
For anyone wondering if I ever plan to finish this series, the answer is… I hope so. It took me six stories to get Callen and Nell to actually kiss, so who knows how long it'll be before the accidental courtship becomes actually dating. As ever, I await the Muse. And also, the writers need to stop messing with the characters, because all the stories in this series are post-eps. I'm just saying.
