I was just sitting here mentally composing an entry when I had a light bulb moment.
Why don’t I write it on my laptop as we drive home? So I am. Fran’s driving and we’re just leaving town. And I’m feeling really good about myself cause I’m doing something useful (if livejournal can be called that) while we’re driving! Or at least saving time I would be using writing this later. Cool. I spend a lot of time justifying myself lately. Especially when it comes to surfing facebook or livejournal while I’m in the library. I’ve decided that I really do study better in small clumps, with exciting study breaks in between.
Study breaks come in all shapes and sizes. A trip to the toilet. A peek at my friend’s page. A walk outside in the courtyard. Or, get this - if I’m at home I might even clean the toilet! Seriously, I set that as a goal the other day when I was home and really getting to the end of my wits, and you know... I’ve never looked forward to cleaning a toilet so much. I guess you can say university does weird things to people.
We’re studying Othello this week for English, and Sophie and I finished reading it together this morning. It’s such a sad play! Duh, you say. It’s a Shakespearian tragedy. I know, but it’s still really sad! And confusing. Who seriously would be so manipulated as Othello was my Iago? Agh, he annoys me so! See, I’m really getting good at writing critically huh? I’m dreading the exam and essay for that very reason, but other than that - all’s cool.
I just went to Video Ezy to pick up the movie to watch and the guy called me ‘darl’, twice. And it wasn’t like he was old - he only looked about twenty. I’m not even having a darl-ish day or anything. Weird guy!
I was reading a poster about my play director on the door of the arts building today. He conducts a uni choir and it was saying all the musical qualifications he has (like a music degree from university of Massachusetts, something from Sydney etc.) and I realised how lucky I am to be in his play! I love Armidale - such a little place full of amazingly talented people. Wow. We had a hair workshop on Sunday too and learnt to do our hair in 1912’s style for Titanic. Fun times!
Fran just almost had a collision with a massive truck that was traveling in the middle of the road. And this laptop is really getting hot on my lap. I’m feeling nervous about this whole lap,top thing. But it still might become a habit. Imagine that. A post written every night on my way home. Wouldn’t that be fun? You’d have to listen to a rundown of my every day!
Guess who called me darl today?
There was this really annoying girl humming in the library.
I didn’t have enough food in my bag. I ran out of water.
I got so distracted and did hardly any reading at all.
Wah wah wah.
Fun times.
And just incase you were wondering, I’m home now and about to post this. But first, Fran is drinking milk with some kind of straw thing that makes the milk strawberry flavoured as you suck it up. Man oh man - what an age of discovery!
