Letter to Fay's contact list

So Kurogane was going to be difficult, was he? He complained about Fay never saying anything meaningful. That, Fay decided, was hypocritical.

He had to get him something for Christmas. . Fay couldn't just forget about the father of his children. And… well, he wanted to give Kurogane something in thanks for his putting up with the mage. For staying, though he probably had plenty of reasons to be elsewhere.

And so after a lot of careful thought, head scratching, exasperation, and a little bit of annoyance, Fay had the best idea ever. It was a little different to his usual gifts, but… well, it was a good idea.

The only problem was he needed help.

“Mokona!” he called. “Mokona, where are you?”

"Mokona is here!" replied a chirpy voice from nearby. A moment later, a white little creature bounced into sight, its goal being apparently Fay's head.

"What is it, Fay-mommy?" asked Mokona excitedly.

"Ah, there you are!" Fay said, attempting to catch Mokona in order to give it a hug. "Mokona, would you mind writing something for me? It's about Kuro-daddy's Christmas present."

"Of course, Mokona would love to help!" Mokona replied, eagerly being caught in the hug. "What should Mokona write?”

“Ah, thank you!” Fay said, rubbing his nose against - well, where he assumed Mokona’s nose was. “Could you write it as I say?”

"Sure! Just let Mokona find some paper and a pen!" How the thing is going to hold a pen is something of a mystery. It's managed it before, anyway.

"You're wonderful, Mokona," Fay said. "I got some paper this morning. And here's a pen!" He hands it a red pen decorated with pictures of Mouse-sama. It says 'Mickey Mouse' on the side in a jaunty, cartoony script.

"Yay!" Mokona took the paper and the pen and jumped to the nearest flat surface. Holding the pen in a very-much-not-possible way, it asked, "What shall Mokona write?"

Fay smiled at the creature’s enthusiasm - Mokona seemed happy about everything - and began dictating.

“Dear friend,

According to my friend Mokona, Christmas is a time for present-giving. I’m sure you’re busy yourself right now, but if you could find time to help me, I would be very grateful.

Do you have any idea if traditional Nihon (Mokona tells me that can also be called Japan) wear is available here at all, and where I can get it if it is?

I’m really very sorry to bother you. Thank you for reading.

Fay xXx.”

Mokona wrote as it was told. For a moment it contemplated adding some odd comments here and there, but in the end it made the messages exactly the way Fay had intended it to be.

...Well. It couldn't help but add something in the end.

Fay-mommy is a very good and kind person so please help him out if you only can.

Mokona

“Thank you, Mokona!” Fay said, kissing the top of its head. He added a little doodle of a cat in the corner, and then instructed Mokona to make a few more copies and to address them to everyone he (and it) had met so far.

Mokona happily did as it was instructed. It loved helping Fay-mommy out, especially when it involved Kuro-daddy, too.
