Closed RP; Marguerite and Percy

Aug 25, 2008 20:03

After his little talk with Booth, Percy was determined to see his wife. Having worked these past few weeks on regaining her love and righting wrongs, he finally saw the precarious situation that they were all in with clear and focused eyes. He could lose Marguerite at any point in time - whenever it suited the Higher Powers that be, and he was ( Read more... )

Marguerite hadn't expected anyone today, particularly at such a time. The again things seemed to work differently here. She made her way down the stairs, her shoes still by the door as she went closer.

"Yes, can I he---" she was cut off by the sight of her husband before her. "Percy!" She cried happily at the tall form before her. She curtsied to him before looking him over. "Are you alright? Do come in," she said moving out of the door frame for her beloved to come in.

"Sink me, alright? M'dear, I'm better than ever!" he cried, smiling and removing his hat upon seeing her surprised face. He bowed low once, then shook his head at her invitation and took a step back. "No, no, you join me out here."

He began to gesture with his long limbs towards the street and the sky. "Another wonderful night, why not take a stroll with your foolish husband?"

There were no words that could describe the relief she felt when he said he was alright. Marguerite eyed him curiously before moving to slip her shoes on and moving outside with him as she shut the door. "Are there anything other than wonderful nights here, Percy?" She asked with a smile before taking taking a step. "I can think of nothing better to do."

"I have yet to experience one to the contrary, what," Percy smiled, tipping his hat back upon his head. Oh, she wasn't wearing shoes. He watched as she readied herself with a look of complete adoration. It wasn't worth trying to hide in now.

"Splendid, splendid. Let's take the air, but first you must take m'arm." He held his elbow out for her to take, happy enough to be just near her once again.

Doing as he instructed, Marguerite took his arm happily. "So, Sir Percy, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy?" She asked him. "Since the nights are always so wonderful, there must be something keeping you busy if you are not walking with me," she said, unable to not tease him slightly. There was a difference now, even when they spoke. Their teasing was not hurtful or cruel as it had once been. They were back to that gentle teasing, carelessly and effortlessly. Oh, how she had missed that!

"Just my usual socialising, Margot ma chérie." He waved his hand. "Your husband is a very busy man. Always thinking, drinking, dancing, singing, creating poetry, rescuing small animals out of high tree branches, gardening, tailoring, collecting; Lud, the list goes on and on." Ah, yes, idle chatter. Percy didn't necessarily miss this, but he had missed the calm, peaceful moments with his wife before she had actually become his wife.

She loved watching him as he spoke. Particularly when he called Margot and then ma cherie--well, she was gone. He used it so effortlessly sometimes, she wondered at how often times with her it rolled off his tongue so naturally and then others he butchered it so. "That he must be," she agreed, "I am so happy your wife could be fit in so easily. I am quite lucky to have a husband so ready to spend time with me, I know not all men see the necessity, but I am ever so glad you do." She explained with a satisfied smile. Anytime with Percy was time she treasured, now more than ever. "So, is there any particular destination, or simply mindless wandering tonight, dear?"

He merely smiled brightly as she spoke so warmly. Ah, there was that easy adoration that always seemed to take him by surprise when she was near. "Your husband finds that time spent with his wife is more precious to him than some silly game of hazzard or making an appearance at some droll ball. He finds the task of...fitting in his wife, as you so put it, comes very easily."

There was just an ever-so-slight glint of mischief in his eyes when Percy replied next. "I thought that we might partake of the Park's many amusements provided for us."

A blush rose to her cheeks when he spoke of time with her being just as important to him as it was to her. "Your wife not only is honored by such a frame of mind, but feels the same for her husband as well. I could not be happier that you appeared on my doorstep this evening."

Marguerite looked to her husband when he spoke and nodded in agreement. In all honesty she was a little nervous about such things, but with Percy there she felt more at ease. "Oh? I had yet to try anything rather adventurous as of yet, I've seen the one with music that goes about. The carousel is it? I enjoyed that one. The music is quite repetitive, I must say."

"I could not be happier than you decided to join me," he replied swiftly. His gloved hand strayed to touch hers, and he smiled to himself as they wandered along. Seemingly wandered along - Percy knew full-well their intended destination.

"You? Zooks, my dear, I expected you to be a little more daring than that. Where is the adventurous Marguerite St Just that I married? No, no, you cannot settle for merely the carousel. Tonight we'll try something new." He nodded his head to settle the matter right there and then.

Marguerite felt his hand touched hers and every nerve in body became alive. Even his gloved hand touching hers made her excited and more in love with him than before.

She couldn't help but laugh at his expression. "The Marguerite St Just you married was busy, cleaning," she explained with a smile. "After setting about the place to find this and that, I hardly had the energy to do else other than lay down," she went on. "I am quite glad for it, these things look even better than the carousel. They're not---that is, what are they?"

Percy laughed merrily. "Oh, come now, you have boundless energy, even moreso then, don't try and tell this fool otherwise! La, why, I've seen you run around Richmond all day and still have the energy to dance every little jig and minuet at the Prince's fine galas." As he spoke he had brought Marguerite over to the entrance of Splash Mountain. He had been acquainted with the ride before, and his sense of playful mischief had gotten the better of him.

"Surely you've seen the roller coasters? If you haven't, I'm sure my clever wife can figure out what they do from their name. This, m'dear, is like a roller coaster. It sits on the water and floats about. Perfectly safe." He added with a smile, "it rocks no more than a carriage or a yacht might do."

"You, sir, do not know the energy it takes to clean as throuoghly and as properly as I do. Not that I hold that against you, because of you I have been taken away from all of that nonsense, but no matter until you have done it yourself, sir, I would not think like that!" She chidded him playfully. Marguerite listened to him and after a moment she stopped as he continued walking, his words sinking in. "You--you watched me, sir?" Marguerite at that time had been used to playing the roll of a gay and happy go lucky wife. Yes, she fell in love with the gardens at their Richmond home but as of late she went about them alone. She was shocked he had taken notice of her at that time.

Percy would never lie to her, but there was something odd about all of this. "I say, Percy," she remarked looking at the seat carefully. "How am I to fit in it?"

Percy laughed once again, "Gad, Madame, I meant no offense. I do not doubt your cleaning prowess. And yes, my love, I watched you. How could I not? You such a pretty little thing when you're running about, queen of the social circle and of Richmond too."

He said nothing more on this thought, just merely removed his gloves, his cap, and his jacket to sit himself down in the seat. "Surely your gown isn't so large that it cannot be compressed!" he huffed. "Now come and join me. You can fit, I assure you."

"Good, I am glad. If you did, I'd hate for you to come home to Richmond when we return and have the manor in shambles. Just to prove a point," she grinned at him, feeling her cheeks becoming flushed again. "Oh Percy," she sighed, so over wrought with feeling nothing else could come out.

Marguerite watched as he removed his cap, his gloves---his coat!? "Percy!" She cried, watching him climb into the contraption, the perfect image of calm. "It could, but whatever are you doing? Why are you removing your coat? Your gloves, even your hat, perhaps. But what of your coat, sir?"

Percy merely smiled. "Margot, my sweetheart, I am merely warm and have removed my coat," he lied, ever-so-smoothly as always. "Plus my sleeves restrict me. I'd like to have my arm around you for our little ride. Now come, stop being so silly and sit by me, Lady Blakeney." He patted the seat beside him and smiled once more towards her.
