mood: resolute

((Backdated to shortly after Quixote met the Feegle))Still slightly soggy from his encounter with the grim leviathan Monstro, Don Quixote was in dire need of a new lance and a whetstone and oil with which to tend his rusting sword*. Weaponsmiths being in shockingly short supply in the Land of Disney, he searched for some time, ( Read more... )

The door swings shut with a clang.

You are in a dark room.

Quixote scrambles to his feet, tottering uncertainly for a moment as he calls out into the darkness, "Thinkest thou to misle the eyes of Don Quixote with a veil of shadow? I say thee nay!" and plunges forward (or at least he assumes it's forward) blindly and without hesitation.

You can't go that way.

Quixote clangs noisily off the wall in front of him and reels back into the middle of the room.

Undaunted, he advances more cautiously until his hand meets the unyielding surface, and begins to feel his way along the wall, moving to his left.

After following the simple directions Adam had given him, Setsuna found himself somewhere. Flashlight in hand, he paused and looked around, trying to figure out if he was under the castle like he should be.

You are in what appears to be a featureless entryway painted an industrial pastel green. Every so often along the wall there's a picture of Jiminy Cricket's head. There are exits to the north, east, and west.

There seems to be a glimmer of light to the east...

Setsuna moved the flashlight around to make sure he wasn't imagining the light to the east, and then immediately walked towards it when he was sure it was there.

You are in a similar room with the same decor. There are boxes stacked along the north wall and exits to the east and west.

An old man with a torch is standing in the center of the room.

Cayce was sitting on a bench outside of the Starcade, feeling more wrung-out and depressed than she had since her blowout with Crowley. Disappearances happened all the time, she knew, but it had been a good long while since anyone she was very close to had vanished. She'd gotten complacent.

She heard Quixote's rickety approach before she saw him. When she saw how frantic and winded he was, she rose quickly, concerned.

"Don Quixote? What -- are you all right? Can I get you something to drink?"

Staggering where he stood, Quixote waved a hand in negation and attempted to speak. And failed. He'd managed (somehow) to run all the way here without collapsing or suffering a heart attack, but it had cost him.

He also had no idea that several weeks had passed outside since he had entered the door in Fantasyland.

"My...my lady," he finally wheezed out, "I bri...I bring thee..great news. The lair of the Enchanter...has been found, and therein lies a mighty portal...beyond which we cannot pass." He paused a moment, panting. "The young lad, Setsuna, remained to keep guard upon it, but I fear for his safety, brave youth though he is. I do pray thee summon thy men-at-arms, and a locksmith if one is to be found, for surely whatever secret the villain would take such pains to keep must be of terrible import."

Men at arms? Locksmith?

"I don't-I mean, I'm not sure if ... I don't think there's anyone here who knows anything about locks," Cayce stammered, although if she'd been thinking more clearly, she might have thought of a few supernaturals who could have found their way around it. "A ... a portal? A door? What ... where is it? How did you find it?" Pause. "And how did Setsuna find you there?"

"Beneath this city there lies a bewildering labyrinth of rooms, festooned with vulgar markings and ensorceled by mine enemy," the old man explained. "Therein stands an unassailable door, graven with heathen images. I know not how the lad came upon me, but a thunderous voice admonished us when we made assault upon the thing, and it would not yield." Quixote looked on her beseechingly. "Please, milady, surely within this land of wonders there must be someone skilled with locks or with the unraveling of black spells? It may be that this is the very means of escape thou hast sought."
