Application for Leeloo, The Fifth Element

Apr 03, 2008 17:49

"You, no trouble. Me fifth element. Supreme being. Me protect you. Sleep."

And then a lady walks up and wishes him sweet dreams and presses a button, and he sleeps.

But she is still awake, still eager to absorb and belong. She must think and adapt and sort through all the new information she has collected, and be content with that for the short time she has. Soak it up like cloth in water. She goes through the words she's learned: alien, broken, care, delve, echo, feather, give, heal, igloo, joke, keep, lemon, melt, new, oval, paint....

When she opens her eyes she knows she's in the wrong place. Not in a soft bunk, not in space, not docking and, more importantly, not with Korben.

Mickey coughs theatrically. "'What is your name?'"

She leaps to her feet, pulling something flat and rectangular from of the waistband of her pants. "Leeloo Dallas Multipass!" she exclaims. That is right, yes? It has been working everywhere else, as far as she can tell. After a moment she blinks hugely at the mouse and starts approaching him slowly, like a nervous animal, two or three tiny steps at a time.

"What is your quest?" asks the Cat. It's perched, suddenly, on the roof of one of the gate-stiles.

She starts muttering, but even if anyone can hear it, they'll only make out, "Danko-demon mavano polo antila-galine...." There's a short beat and she ducks her head, raises the little plastic card up again. "Multipass!"

"'What is the average w..?'" Mickey frowns down at the notebook. "You know, I don't really see why that's important." He flips a page. "'If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?'"

"Or," the Cat says, examining its tail with interest, "if you were a genie and someone you were trying to give three wishes to was trying to trick you into giving him more, what would you say?"

She tilts her head at the cat and mouse, perplexity etched into the space between her eyebrows, and she points to the card. "Mool-tee-pahs," she enunciates carefully, in case they hadn't caught it the first two times. It won't wound her pride if they think she's dumb; she knows not to talk to strangers, not now when everyone was out looking for her.

Mickey looks rather nonplused at the next, but reads, "'When the revolution comes, what skills will you be able to barter for food?'"

She knows that word. Ree-vuh-loo-chun. She's not sure she has the full grasp of the meaning, though, and more importantly, "Abrilomat o Korben?" No, they won't know that. "Where... is Korben?" That should be right, but she's not sure. She's never sure, not like this, when she's frazzled and everything looks new and smells new and feels new....

The Cat rolls its eyes in a friendly (and rather disconcertingly out-of-sync) way, and asks, "Milk, dark, or white chocolate?"

"Choc-chicken?" she tries. That sounds close, but not exact. She's wrong. Wait, but she knew chocolate was supposed to be eaten, she had read that, so it must be, "Chocolate... good?" She smiles briefly, thinking she might have gotten it there.

"'Choose the two coolest: robots, pirates, fairies, bears, ninjas, monkeys, vampires, or humans,'" says Mickey, giggling a bit as he goes through the list. "'Explain.'"

She shakes her head back and forth; it is too fast, the talking is too fast and she doesn't have time. She backs up a few steps, very slowly.

"Great!" Mickey flips through the blank pages of the notebook at top, cartoon-y speed. "Well, I think that's just about it! Oh, and I'm supposed to ask, 'for your safety: are you carrying anything sharp?'"

She knew sharp. "No, no sharp," she says, and she's not sure why she would or how that would help.

((This is Leeloo. She is the supreme being sent to Earth to save the universe. >_> No, really. Really, really. I took her mid-movie, right before she and Korben arrive in Phloston Paradise to retrieve the four stones. Also, the other language that she's speaking is called the Divine or Ancient language. Spoken in the universe before time was time, according to some. She's still learning English, so bear with her. Oh, and this is Crichton-mun, btw. ^_^))
