Duzell had been taking a stroll outside, so he didn't hear Setsuna, but he did, however, receive Setsuna's letter.

Setsuna,

Yes, I'm doing fine. Thanks for the meal. In about another month, if you're willing, you should be able to safely give blood again, so I should be able to hold out until then.

Haven't met too many new people since my arrival. I've been mostly keeping to myself. Did meet a young redheaded girl though. She seemed nice enough.

It's very hot here. I'm not quite used to this heat. As the kyawl comes from teh same place as me, maybe you can get him something nice and cool to drink next time you see him. Maybe one of those iced lemonades?

-Duzell

Then, he turned back into his kitten form, and headed home, where he mewed and played with Setsuna's pant leg.

Duzell,

No problem. Just...a friend of mine kind of figured something was wrong and we talked a bit. He's considering a trade of sorts, if you're up to it. But we'll talk about it when the month comes up.

Well, at least you met someone. ...you almost sound anti-social, but I guess being a vampire you kind of have to be, huh?

You know...I didn't even think some people might not be used to it, because this is close to how it is back home in summer. But I will most certainly do that for the poor kitten. We've named him Little Rascal. Well...Sara named him some Hawaiian name that means that, and I can't remember it.

- SetsunaThe kid was only too relieved when he felt something tugging at his pants. A smile of relief slipping across his lips, he leaned over to pick the kitten up, aiming to snuggle it closely as he murmured, "Why don't we go get you some fruit juice, huh? Some really good cold stuff. I'm sorry I didn't consider it'd be bad for you in this heat with that fur coat. We'll remedy that right away, I just want to find the ( ... )

Duzell read the letter over Setsuna's shoulder, wondering exactly how he was going to reply while Setsuna was snuggling him like this. A trade? What exactly did he mean by 'a trade'?

He mewed and nodded, purring slightly, and wondering if he could sneak off for a few moments while Setsuna went to go find the others. Of course, he doubted that Setsuna would mind if the letter was a little delayed...

Setsuna didn't mind in the slightest -- he had no plans to check his mailbox now that he had the kitten, after all. He pet Duzell/Keone behind the ears, hoping to elicit more purrs with his affection, only stopping to open the fridge in the break room, where Setsuna kept some easy to reach fruit drinks (so he didn't need to wander around at night when he was thirsty).

"There we go! Want some strawberry juice for the moment? I'll get you something like lemonade later. And I'm sure we can find some watermelon around. Melons are very refreshing," Setsuna assured the kitten as he offered out the bottle to see if Duzell seemed interested.

Thankfully, with the kitten around, they now had a bowl set out for milk, and one for water. Setsuna peered into the bowls to see if they were empty or full and asked Duzell, "You don't care if it's watered down a bit, do you? Or should I go wash the milk bowl?" He looked down at the kitten as though expecting him to answer. It was probably best Setsuna and Sara didn't have any real babies.

Purr more was exactly what Duzell did. He could get used to being treated nicely without being woken up in the middle of the night and being demanded to transport across the country because Ishtar had a whim, or to fight in silly tournaments so Ishtar wouldn't have to marry her cousin, or whatnot.

Duzell did look a little put out about having watered down juice - things without a strong taste all tasted like cardboard to him - but he shook his head none the less and meowed, looking expectantly at Setsuna and flicking his tail very slightly.

Something in Duzell's trusting look, those large kitten eyes peering up at him, the adorable little meow...Setsuna's smile softened and he ended up saying, "I'll go wash out the milk bowl. Okay?" With a gentle pet, he instructed, "Just don't leave? You need to be here to get your drink."

Reluctantly, he started to put the kitten down, his expression changing rapidly to worried and uncertain. He really didn't want to leave the kitten alone, and to be alone himself. Not right now.

Still, some things just had to get done.

Duzell nodded at Setsuna when he was set down, still looking up innocently. He knew he should probably stay put like Setsuna said, especially since Setsuna looked so worried for some reason, but he had spent an awful lot of time with Ishtar lately...

He dashed out of the room, transformed back into himself, and then transported right outside of his mailbox.

His writing was still written with a flourish, and very old looking, but it definitely looked rush.

Sets,

What kind of trade?

Not that anti-social, just been preoccupied with other things.

Must suck in summer. What do I owe your letters?

-Duzell

He stuffed it into his mailbox, transported back outside of the theatre, and then turned back into a kitten and ran back into the kitchen, panting slightly.

Thankfully, cleaning out the milk dish required Setsuna to find the bathroom somewhere backstage of the theatre, and that took plenty of time (as Setsuna more often used the public ones around the park). When he returned, he just saw the kitten right where he left him.

He placed the bowl down with a, "Here you go," and a relieved smile. Keone was still there -- thank-goodness. He wanted to snuggle the kitten again, but decided to let him drink, first. The poor thing was panting! Not a good sign.

Frowning again, Setsuna poured the strawberry juice into the dried bowl then muttered, "I'm gonna check my mailbox again, just in case. And maybe I'll run into someone on the way."

One could never tell. Again, though, he felt too awkward about leaving the kitten, so Setsuna amended himself with, "Never mind. I'll go look when you're done so I can carry you with me," and settled next to Duzell so he could pet him a bit.

Duzell meowed his thanks, and then took to drinking the water. It was nice and cool, which was nice, and it only took a moment to slow his heart down and catch his breath. It wasn't that he had been out of breath because he had been running so much, but more because he had been rushing himself so much.

Once he was done, he looked up at Setsuna again and mewed at him, not quite understanding why Setsuna wanted to carry him with him to the mailbox, but not about to protest. How strange. Hopefully Setsuna would answer the query in his next letter.

When the kitten seemed more calm, Setsuna picked him back up and headed out to check if there was anything. When he found another letter from Duzell he read it out loud to the kitten, and looked puzzled.

"Maybe my English is worse than I thought. This isn't making much sense to me," Setsuna told the kitten as he settled down -- kitten in his lap -- to write a response. He asked out loud as he did, though, "Owe? I don't get it? He doesn't owe me anything for writing them. I mean, no one's making us put stamps on them."

Duzell,

Sets now, eh? Been a while since anyone's called me that. I like it.

My friend wants you to take his blood instead. I said it'd be left up to you to decide, just in case you like my blood better for any reason. But you're being given the option.

Summer is kinda awful over there. But I've heard it could be much worse.

What do you mean owe? I don't know the cost of American postage.

If it wouldn't have looked odd, Duzell would have bashed his head against the wall or something.

"Not owe like that, you fool!" Duzell said. "Any moron could see that I was just rushing to much to say 'to what do I owe the pleasure! You're supposed to have told me why you were writing me. That's what I was asking, you big, blundering oaf!"

Of course, everything that Duzell said came out in a long string of angry sounding meows. Ishtar wasn't even that dense.

Okay, maybe she was, but that wasn't the point. He'd have to wait for Setsuna to leave him alone again before he could reply, as much as he wanted to. Who could Duzell take blood from instead? He was sure it was probably going to be Kira or Sara, though he didn't know which one for sure, nor was he 100% positive which one it would be.

Setsuna, unaccustomed to any such English phrasing, just sighed after, still really puzzled.

He blinked at Duzell's odd sounds and asked the kitten, "You all right? I hope Duzell can explain what he meant. I think I just need to learn more English. This stupid language is harder than I thought. I can't even imagine learning to read your sounds."

After, Setsuna pet the kitten for comfort, hugged Duzell to him close, then started to pace wondering where Sara was. Or Kira. Or Pearl. They had to be around somewhere.

"Meow," said Duzell, and began heading to the door of the theatre, glancing over his shoulder as he did, as though asking for Setsuna's permission.

"Huh?" Setsuna frowned...but walked over and opened the door for Duzell anyway, letting him go.

"You better come back," he warned the kitten. "Just scratch at the door, and I'll let you in. Or...get in however you usually do it." He still had no idea, either. All Setsuna knew was that he didn't want to be alone, and he didn't want the kitten without him.... Oh well, can't have everything you want.

Setsuna?,

Would you rather I called you that, then? I was in a bit of a rush and didn't think I had time to put much time into the rest of the letter, but if that's the name you prefer, I can call you by that instead.

Who's your friend? I could meet them sooner than the month - if I'm just taking blood from them, then it won't be much danger to you. I could make my decision then.

I was just asking the reason why you were writing me, is all. Was it just to tell me of the trade?

-Duzell

Within about a minute or three, Duzell came back, and scratched at the door.

When Setsuna heard the scratching, he opened the door again, and aimed to scoop up the kitten. And, of course, since he was outside at the time, he was tempted to once more check his mailbox.

Relieved to see another letter in there, he read this one too and also responded, all the while growing more concerned about where the rest of his "family" was.

Duzell,

It's fine be me. Use whatever you like.

Kira Sakuya, but I'm going to go with him, since he insisted if you pick me he's going to accompany us. It's only fair he get a taste of his own medicine, you know?

Oh! That's a weird phrasing for it. I'm sorry...I haven't known this language too long, and I'm still learning about it. But actually, I was just checking up on how you were doing. We hadn't talked in a while, that's all.

- Setsuna
