Cayce was on her way to forage for more supplies (her bottled water stash was running low) when she glimpsed John outside of Star Tours. "Hey there!" she called out, and waved.
Harvey waved. Nice girl. Name began with a C ... Cayce, that was it. As in Casey Kasem and the Top 40 Countdown. "Hello!" he said back, taking a few steps towards her.
"No," Cayce said, studying John's face out of the corner of her eye. "They aren't, are they?"
It was Harvey. She was certain of it now; he'd walked right into it. Next question: who had the jack move? Who was going to come out on top here? Should she play her trump card now?
Let him dig himself a little further. Find out what his agenda was.
With a little diffident shrug, she turned back to the route that would take them to Adventureland. "Anyway, I think things should be okay. Daniel hasn't followed up yet, has he?"
"Only to a better man than meself! And last I checked, John, that wasn't you." When John drew his sword, Harvey did the same. He jumped back as he met John's lunge, bringing his sword up defensively. Then he swung hard toward John's left side.
"Out of my way, villain! Prepare to meet thy doom!" he cried.
"I was never really into that sort of thing," Harvey acknowledged. "Sitting and watching was never that much fun."
Harvey's agenda, at this point, wasn't really anything dangerous. He was still getting a feel for this place, and trying to work out how best to use Crichton in this situation. And having -- did he want to call them friends? -- acquaintences might be useful.
Harvey started walking towards Adventureland, looking over at Cayce to make sure she would follow. "No, Daniel's probably still prowling for something to read."
"It sure as hell is me!" John shouted, parrying, spinning to the side to lessen the full impact of the blade.
And then the allegories mixed again. Oddly enough, the costume still fit. He hadn't heard a word of that book since it had been read to him at the age of seven, though. If he was right, the correct response was- "Dark and sinister man, have at thee!" How apropos.
Damn, what he would give to be able to fly right now. As it was, a chair appeared next to him and he jumped on to it, raining a blow down on Harvey's head.
Keep him distracted, make him screw up more, it has to be working.... Wendy's in danger. Er, Cayce.
Ironically, Cayce would have been a lot more -- well, perhaps not kindly, but more amiably disposed towards Harvey if he'd been up front about who he was. Instead, she was now all suspicion -- and also wondering if John was okay.
Hands in pockets, she kept pace alongside John-Harvey, just this side of arm's reach. "Yeah. I could stand to hit up Mr Fell sometime soon for more reading material. The little adventure with Kira the other day was fun, but there's only so many times you can go on that ride, y'know?"
If Harvey was the type to do jigs, his would be up. While he didn't notice the look that passed between Daniel and Cayce, he felt a slight shift in the group's dynamic and reacted accordingly. "Hurry back, Cayce," he said as she started out toward the shops. "Don't make us come and rescue you now." If Harvey had been the type to pray, he might have prayed for Cayce to mysteriously trip over something so that he and Daniel could save her, shifting all the attention away from him. But he didn't pray, and so he turned back to Daniel. "Yes, they have no bananas. Some fruit cart."
"Under the magnifying glass, my dear boy? Inconceivable. I'm harmless to them. My only task here has been to observe and theorize about your interesting companions." Gone was the frilly dress. In its place was a brown cape and a deerskin cap. Harvey pulled a pipe from seemingly nowhere and began to pace. The pacing might have looked suitably Holmesian, but John might have detected (were he as good as Sherlock himself
( ... )
Alone in the shop, Cayce took a moment to stop and think. If Daniel were to follow, she might be able to get a hurried conference in with him before they had to rejoin Harvey-John.
Maybe he's just curious. Maybe he -- oh, yeah, there's the whole blatantly-pretending-to-be-John thing. Damn.
She dawdled a bit, pretending to look for something a little more sturdy than the plastic merchandise bags.
With Cayce gone, Daniel was left alone with John. Unsure what exactly was wrong except that it had something to do with Harvey, he didn't really know what to do.
He plucked an apple from the cart.
"So I haven't talked to you in a couple days," he said, taking a bite. "What have you been up to lately? Anything interesting?"
((Sooooooooo ... about this thing ... Yeah. I fail. Sorry, all!))
Yes, what had Harvey been up to? "Oh, the same thing I do every night, Pinky. Trying to take over the world." Which was true, in its way. Harvey picked up an apple and tossed it to Daniel. "This look ripe to you?"

She didn't notice anything wrong. Not yet, anyway.

And Harvey was going to try to keep Cayce convinced she was talking to John until he needed something from her.
